Relive the dial-up era. We've recovered, emulated, and preserved thousands of historic BBS systems, ANSI art collections, door games, and sysop archives from the late 1980s through the mid-1990s.
Preserving the Pre-Web Internet
Before the World Wide Web dominated, the digital frontier belonged to Bulletin Board Systems. Users dialed in via acoustic couplers, navigated text-based menus, traded files over FIDO NET, and connected across continents through packet exchange.
These systems were highly ephemeral. When sysops powered down, lost their hardware, or migrated to web forums, entire digital cultures vanished. Our preservation initiative captures raw terminal dumps, emulates period-accurate software (Telix, ProComm, QuickBBS, Renegade), and maintains living archives of door games and ANSI art.
Every preserved BBS includes original banner art, menu structures, user logs (anonymized), and packet node configurations. Researchers, historians, and retro-computing enthusiasts can connect via our modern telnet gateway or explore fully rendered HTML5 emulations.
