Its acquisition by Overture Services in 1998, and subsequent integration into Yahoo! Search, marked a pivotal moment in the consolidation of early web search infrastructure.

The 1990 Web Archive has preserved 14 distinct snapshot layers of the Infoseek interface, capturing its evolution from a minimalist text portal to a feature-rich, directory-style search hub that influenced the UX patterns of modern search engines.
