📋 Overview

Aevum Encyclopedia is built by a global community of scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts. To maintain the integrity of our knowledge base, all contributions must adhere to strict editorial standards. These standards apply to new articles, edits, discussions, and multimedia submissions.

Document Version: v2.4 — Last updated March 2025. This is Section 5 of the Contributor Guide. See Sections 1–4 for onboarding, editing tools, and formatting guidelines.

đŸ›ī¸ The Five Pillars

Our standards are organized around five core pillars. Every contribution is evaluated against these principles by our AI moderation system and human review boards.

Pillar 01

🔍 Verifiability

All content must be backed by reliable, independent sources. Claims without citations are subject to removal.

Pillar 02

âš–ī¸ Neutrality

Articles must present all significant viewpoints fairly, without taking sides or using loaded language.

Pillar 03

📝 Originality

Contributions must be original work. Plagiarism, copy-pasting from other sources, or self-promotion is prohibited.

Pillar 04

🤖 AI Ethics

AI tools may assist in drafting, but all content requires human verification. AI-generated hallucinations will be penalized.

Pillar 05

🤝 Community Respect

Treat fellow contributors with respect. Harassment, vandalism, or disruptive behavior results in immediate action.

1. Verifiability

Aevum Encyclopedia is a verified knowledge base. Every factual claim must be attributable to a reliable source. This does not mean every sentence needs a citation, but controversial statements, quotes, and specific data points must be referenced.

Acceptable Sources

  • Peer-reviewed academic journals and conference proceedings
  • Established news organizations with editorial oversight
  • Government publications and official statistics
  • Books published by recognized academic or trade publishers
  • Expert-authored websites with clear credentials
âš ī¸
Avoid: Self-published sources, social media posts, personal blogs, and circular references (citing other wikis or unsourced aggregators).

2. Neutrality

The Neutral Point of View (NPOV) is non-negotiable. Articles should describe controversies accurately and without taking a position. Use neutral language and attribute claims to their sources.

❌ Non-Neutral ✅ Neutral
"The disastrous policy ruined the economy." "The policy was controversial; critics argue it harmed economic growth, while supporters cite reduced inflation."
"The best artist of the 20th century." "Widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century."
"Obviously, this theory is incorrect." "This theory has been challenged by subsequent research, including studies by..."

3. Originality

All content on Aevum must be the original work of the contributor or properly attributed. We enforce strict plagiarism detection using our AI analysis engine.

Prohibited Content

  • Copying text verbatim from other websites or books without quotes
  • Submitting substantial work written by others (ghostwriting)
  • Self-promotion, advertising, or biased coverage of the contributor's own work
  • Uploading copyrighted images or media without verification of license
đŸšĢ
Zero Tolerance: Verified plagiarism results in immediate revocation of contributor privileges and permanent flagging of submissions.

4. AI & Automation Policy

As an AI-enhanced platform, we encourage the responsible use of AI tools. However, AI cannot replace human judgment and verification.

Guidelines

  • Drafting Assistance: You may use AI to brainstorm, rephrase, or structure content.
  • Mandatory Verification: Every fact, citation, and claim generated by AI must be manually verified by a human contributor.
  • Disclosure: If over 30% of a submission is AI-generated, tag the edit with #ai-assisted for expedited review.
  • Prohibited: Fully automated bots, spam farming, and unverified AI hallucinations are strictly banned.
💡
Note: Aevum's own AI tools are optimized for compliance. Using the integrated editor's AI assistant ensures automatic citation checks and plagiarism scans.

5. Community Conduct

Aevum thrives on collaboration. All interactions must be respectful, constructive, and focused on improving knowledge.

Expected Behavior

  • Provide specific, actionable feedback on talk pages
  • Assume good faith when editing with others
  • Resolve disputes through the mediation process
  • Report vandalism or policy violations promptly
  • Respect privacy and do not dox other users
⛔
Violations: Harassment, threats, hate speech, and persistent vandalism result in immediate suspension or permanent ban.

âš–ī¸ Enforcement & Review

Compliance with these standards is enforced through a hybrid system of AI moderation and human editorial review.

Violation Type Severity Typical Action
Uncited claims Low Tagged for sourcing; auto-revert if unresolved in 7 days
Neutral language violation Medium Editorial correction; warning for repeat offenses
Plagiarism Critical Content removal; contributor suspension (30 days to permanent)
Vandalism / Disruption Critical Instant revert; IP/user block; escalation to Trust & Safety

Contributors may appeal enforcement actions through the Dispute Resolution Portal. All decisions are logged transparently.
