Overview

Aevum Encyclopedia is built on collaborative knowledge creation, rigorous verification, and respectful discourse. When disagreements arise, our Dispute Resolution Policy ensures that conflicts are addressed fairly, efficiently, and transparently. This document outlines the procedures, responsibilities, and standards governing dispute handling across the platform.

Note: This policy applies to all contributors, editors, moderators, and registered users. Disputes must be filed through official channels; informal arguments or edit wars will not be entertained. Repeat violations may result in account restrictions.

Scope & Applicability

The dispute resolution framework covers all content hosted on Aevum Encyclopedia, including but not limited to articles, reference materials, multimedia entries, metadata, and discussion pages. It applies to disputes originating from:

  • Editorial disagreements regarding article structure, tone, or content accuracy
  • Conflicts over contributor conduct, harassment, or policy violations
  • Intellectual property claims, copyright infringements, or licensing disputes
  • Algorithmic or AI-assisted content flagging disputes
  • Account standing, permissions, or contributor tier appeals

Types of Disputes

Disputes are categorized to ensure appropriate routing and specialized handling:

Category Description Handled By
Content & Editorial Fact disputes, sourcing quality, article scope, or formatting standards Subject-Matter Editors
Conduct & Community Harassment, vandalism, edit warring, or code of conduct violations Community Moderators
Intellectual Property DMCA claims, copyright strikes, licensing conflicts, or plagiarism reports Legal & Compliance Team
System & AI Flags False positives from automated filters, AI review disputes, or access restrictions Platform Engineering & Trust

Resolution Process

All disputes follow a standardized four-stage process to ensure consistency and fairness:

1

Submission & Triage

The filing party submits a structured dispute form detailing the issue, affected pages, evidence, and desired resolution. A trust officer triages the case within 24 hours and assigns it to the appropriate review panel.

2

Review & Mediation

Assigned editors or moderators review both sides, consult primary sources, and attempt mediation. Parties may be invited to a structured discussion thread to clarify positions.

3

Adjudication

If mediation fails, a neutral panel issues a binding decision based on platform guidelines, verifiable sources, and established editorial standards. Rulings are documented publicly where appropriate.

4

Implementation & Closure

The decision is applied to the affected content or accounts. All parties receive written notification. The case is archived for transparency and future reference.

Expected Timelines

Timelines vary by complexity, but Aevum commits to the following service levels:

  • Simple disputes (minor edits, clear policy violations): 3–5 business days
  • Moderate disputes (content accuracy, sourcing debates): 7–10 business days
  • Complex disputes (IP claims, multi-party conflicts, systemic issues): 14–21 business days

Parties will receive status updates at each stage. Delays due to missing information or unresponsive participants may extend timelines.

Submission Guidelines

To ensure efficient processing, all dispute filings must include:

  1. Clear statement of the issue and relevant policy sections cited
  2. Direct links to affected articles, revision history, or discussion pages
  3. Supporting evidence (sources, screenshots, communication logs)
  4. Proposed resolution or acceptable alternatives
  5. Confirmation that informal resolution attempts were made or explain why they were not feasible

Anonymous disputes, retaliatory filings, or cases lacking substantive evidence will be dismissed without review.

Appeals & Finality

Decisions may be appealed once within 14 days of notification. Appeals must demonstrate:

  • New, previously unavailable evidence
  • Procedural error in the original review
  • Misapplication of established guidelines

The appeals panel issues a final, non-appealable ruling. Aevum reserves the right to enforce immediate restrictions in cases involving imminent harm, severe policy violations, or legal obligations.
