Content Policy
1. Scope & Purpose
Welcome to Aevum Encyclopedia. This Content Policy establishes the standards, expectations, and operational guidelines for all material published, edited, or contributed to our platform. Our mission is to maintain a reliable, respectful, and fact-based knowledge resource accessible to everyone, regardless of location or background.
This policy applies to:
- Encyclopedia articles, sections, and metadata
- User discussions, talk pages, and community forums
- Uploaded media (images, audio, video, infographics)
- AI-generated summaries, translations, and cross-references
- User profiles, signatures, and public contributions
2. Acceptable Content
We encourage contributions that expand human knowledge responsibly. Content should be:
- Well-researched & cited: Supported by verifiable, reliable sources (academic journals, reputable publications, official records)
- Original or properly licensed: Created by the contributor or licensed under compatible open-access terms (CC BY-SA 4.0 or equivalent)
- Constructive & collaborative: Aimed at improving accuracy, clarity, and completeness
- Multilingual & inclusive: Respectful of cultural diversity and accessible across languages
- Timely: Updated to reflect current consensus in the field
Contributors are welcome to add new topics, correct errors, improve formatting, translate entries, and expand coverage within their areas of expertise.
3. Prohibited Content
The following content strictly violates our standards and will be removed:
Misinformation & Fabrication
Deliberately false claims, conspiracy theories, unsourced assertions, or manipulated data presented as fact.
Hate Speech & Harassment
Content attacking individuals or groups based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or nationality.
Copyright Infringement
Unauthorized reproduction of paywalled articles, proprietary media, or content violating DMCA/fair use standards.
Spam & Self-Promotion
Unattributed advertising, affiliate links, SEO manipulation, or promotional material disguised as encyclopedic content.
Personal Data Doxxing
Publication of private contact information, addresses, or sensitive personal data without explicit consent.
Illegal or Harmful Material
Instructions for illegal activities, graphic violence, self-harm promotion, or content violating local/international law.
4. Neutrality & Accuracy
Aevum Encyclopedia is committed to the Neutral Point of View (NPOV). All entries must:
- Present multiple perspectives fairly, especially on contested or debated topics
- Avoid editorializing, loaded language, or subjective commentary
- Cite high-quality, independent sources for all non-trivial claims
- Acknowledge scholarly consensus while noting legitimate minority viewpoints
- Clearly distinguish between established facts, theories, and speculation
AI-assisted content generation must be flagged as such during drafting and reviewed by human editors before publication. Automated summaries should never replace primary source analysis.
5. Moderation Process
Our moderation system operates on a hybrid model combining AI screening and human editorial review:
- Automated Screening: New edits and uploads pass through AI filters for policy violations, copyright flags, and coherence checks.
- Queue Review: High-impact edits, newly created articles, and flagged content enter a human review queue.
- Expert Consultation: Subject-matter experts may be consulted for technical, historical, or scientific entries.
- Transparency: Contributors receive notifications regarding edit status, required revisions, or removal reasons.
All moderation actions are logged and can be appealed through our formal review process.
6. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content that violates this policy, you can report it directly through our platform or via email. When reporting, please include:
- A direct link to the page or section in question
- A clear description of the violation
- Relevant context or supporting evidence (if applicable)
Reports are treated confidentially. Retaliatory or malicious reporting may result in account restrictions. We aim to acknowledge all reports within 24 hours and resolve them within 5 business days.
7. Enforcement Actions
Violations are addressed proportionally based on severity, intent, and contributor history. Possible actions include:
- Content Revision: Request for edits, sourcing, or tone adjustment
- Temporary Edit Restrictions: Cooling-off period for repeated minor violations
- Article Protection: Locking controversial pages to verified editors only
- Account Suspension: Temporary or permanent removal of access for severe or repeated breaches
- Legal Escalation: Cooperation with authorities for content involving illegal activity, threats, or copyright infringement
Contributors may appeal enforcement decisions by submitting a formal request through our support portal. Appeals are reviewed by an independent editorial committee.
8. Policy Updates
This policy is periodically reviewed to reflect technological advancements, legal changes, and community feedback. Updates are published with version tracking and effective dates.
Continued use of Aevum Encyclopedia following a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Significant changes will be communicated via platform notifications and email to registered contributors.
