Logo Usage
The Aevum Encyclopedia logo consists of a monogram mark ("AE") and a logotype. Maintain clear space equivalent to the height of the "A" around all sides.
Primary • Light Background
Secondary • Dark Background
Clear Space: Minimum padding of 1.5rem around all sides. Do not rotate, stretch, add shadows, or alter the gradient ratio. Monogram may be used independently only in constrained spaces (favicon, app icon).
Color Palette
Our palette balances academic gravitas with modern digital clarity. Use primary colors for structure and accents for interactive states and hierarchy.
Typography
Playfair Display establishes editorial authority for headings. Inter provides maximum readability for body text, UI elements, and long-form reading. Never mix font weights arbitrarily—adhere to the scale below.
Spacing & Layout
All spacing follows an 8px baseline grid. Use multiples of 8px for margins, padding, and component gaps to maintain visual rhythm across breakpoints.
Grid System: Desktop: 12 columns (24px gutter). Tablet: 8 columns. Mobile: 4 columns. Max content width: 1200px. Container padding: 24px (mobile) → 48px (desktop).
UI Components
Interactive elements follow consistent stroke weights, border radii, and focus states. All components must be keyboard accessible and meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios.
Article Card
Standard container for content previews. Includes header accent, title, excerpt, and metadata footer.
Dark Variant
Used for hero sections, premium content, and high-contrast editorial layouts.
Iconography
Use a consistent 24×24px grid, 2px stroke width, rounded caps and joins. Prioritize clarity over decoration. Icons should complement text, never replace it.
