Right to Rectification

If any personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected or completed without undue delay.

🗑️

Right to Erasure

You may request the deletion of your personal data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes it was collected, or when you withdraw consent.

⚠️ Important Note

While we respect your right to erasure, please note that certain data may be retained to comply with legal obligations, such as tax and accounting requirements, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. In such cases, we will restrict processing rather than delete the data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about your rights with Aevum News.

Can I delete my Aevum News account permanently? +
Yes. You can request permanent account deletion through your account settings or by contacting our rights team. Your account will be deactivated within 24 hours, and all personal data will be removed from our systems within 30 days. Some data may be retained if required by law, such as billing records for tax purposes, but this data will be restricted and not used for any other purpose.
How long do you keep my personal data? +
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary. Account data is kept while your account is active and for up to 3 years after account closure for legal and warranty purposes. Browsing data is retained for a maximum of 12 months. Newsletter subscribers' data is kept while you remain subscribed, plus a 90-day unsubscribe grace period. You can find our complete retention schedule in our Privacy Policy.
Do I need to pay to exercise my data rights? +
No. Under GDPR and most other data protection laws, exercising your rights is free of charge. We may only request a reasonable fee if your request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive. In such cases, we will inform you of the fee and provide justification before requesting payment.
What happens if I object to profiling or personalized content? +
If you object to profiling, we will immediately stop using your data for personalized content recommendations and targeted advertising. You will see a more generic content experience, but all core features remain fully accessible. You can toggle these settings at any time in your account preferences under "Personalization & Privacy."
Can I request a correction to an article that features me? +
Yes. If you believe an article contains factual inaccuracies about you or your organization, you can submit a correction request to our editorial team at corrections@aevumnews.com. Our team will review your request within 7 business days. If a correction is warranted, it will be added to the article with a prominent note, and you will be credited for bringing the issue to our attention.
What is your ombudsperson process? +
Our ombudsperson is an independent editor who handles appeals of editorial decisions, including corrections, content moderation, and rights requests. The ombudsperson reports directly to our Editorial Board and operates independently from the editorial and business teams. You can reach the ombudsperson at ombudsperson@aevumnews.com. Decisions made by the ombudsperson are final within our organization.
Do you sell my personal data to third parties? +
No. Aevum News does not sell your personal data to any third party. We share data only with service providers necessary for operating our platform (such as hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers), and only under strict data processing agreements that limit how your data can be used. We do not use third-party advertising networks that track users across the web.
How can I download all the data you have about me? +
You can download your data directly from your account dashboard by navigating to Settings > Privacy > Download My Data. The export includes your profile information, reading history, saved articles, communication preferences, and any other data we hold. The file is provided in JSON format with human-readable labels. If you need assistance, our rights team can provide a custom export upon request.
