Our Commitment to Accuracy
At Aevum News, we believe that trust is the foundation of journalism. While no news organization is perfect, we are unwavering in our dedication to factual integrity. When errors occur, we address them promptly, transparently, and with the appropriate level of prominence.
This policy governs how we identify, categorize, and correct errors across all platforms, including our website, mobile applications, newsletters, and social media channels.
Our Philosophy
We view corrections not as failures, but as essential mechanisms of accountability that strengthen our credibility and serve our readership.
The Correction Process
When an error is identified—whether by our editorial team, fact-checkers, readers, or external watchdogs—it is reviewed through the following process:
- Verification: The allegation is investigated by a senior editor uninvolved in the original reporting.
- Determination: The error is categorized based on severity and impact (see categories below).
- Correction: The original content is updated, and a correction notice is published according to prominence guidelines.
- Documentation: All corrections are logged in our public Corrections Log.
- Notification: For significant errors, readers who received the original content are notified via email or push notification.
Timeliness
Errors discovered within 24 hours of publication are corrected immediately. Errors discovered later are addressed within 12 hours of confirmation.
Error Categories
We classify errors into three categories to ensure proportional responses:
| Category | Description | Example | Response |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minor | Typographical errors, minor factual inaccuracies that don't affect the story's meaning. | Misspelled name, incorrect zip code. | Silent correction in digital text. |
| Significant | Errors that misrepresent facts, quotes, or context but don't fundamentally alter the story. | Wrong title, misquoted statistic. | Inline correction note added to article. |
| Substantive | Errors that fundamentally change the meaning, conclusion, or impact of the story. | Wrong attribution of a major claim, fabricated source. | Prominent correction at top of article + corrections log entry + notification. |
Prominence & Placement
Corrections are published with prominence proportional to the original error's placement and severity:
- Digital Articles: Corrections appear at the top or directly below the headline for substantive errors. For significant errors, a note appears at the location of the correction and in a footer note.
- Social Media: If the original post reached a wide audience, a correction post is published with a link to the corrected article.
- Email Newsletters: If the error occurred in a newsletter, a follow-up correction is sent to subscribers.
- Video/Audio: Corrections are added to video descriptions and, where feasible, via on-screen text or audio announcements.
Reporting an Error
We welcome feedback from our readers. If you believe you have spotted an error, please report it through one of the following channels:

- Online Form: Use the "Report an Error" link at the bottom of every article.
- Twitter/X: Tag @AevumNews with #Correction
What to Include
When reporting, please provide the article link, description of the error, and any supporting evidence. We review all submissions within 48 hours.
All error reports are reviewed by our corrections desk. We do not retaliate against good-faith reporting of errors, and we appreciate reader vigilance.
Editorial Independence
Corrections are made solely on editorial grounds. No business, political, or external pressure influences our correction decisions. Our Corrections Editor reports directly to the Editor-in-Chief and operates independently from advertising, marketing, and management divisions.
We will never remove or alter a correction to accommodate advertisers or sources. Our integrity is non-negotiable.
