Editorial Integrity Policy

📅 Effective Date: January 15, 2025 🔄 Last Updated: March 10, 2025 👤 Authorized By: Chief Editorial Board

1. Introduction & Purpose

Aevum News is committed to delivering journalism that is accurate, fair, independent, and transparent. This Editorial Integrity Policy establishes the ethical standards, operational guidelines, and accountability measures that govern all editorial content produced, published, or distributed by Aevum News.

Our mission is to serve the public with trustworthy information. This policy ensures that every story, analysis, and opinion piece adheres to the highest journalistic standards, regardless of platform, format, or audience.

Core Commitment: We prioritize truth over speed, context over click-throughs, and public trust over commercial gain.

2. Core Principles

2.1 Accuracy & Verification

Every factual claim must be verified through credible, traceable sources before publication. Unverified information, speculation, or hearsay will not be presented as fact. When reporting on developing stories, we clearly distinguish between confirmed information and ongoing developments.

2.2 Fairness & Balance

Journalism at Aevum News is conducted without prejudice, bias, or favoritism. We strive to present multiple perspectives on complex issues, give subjects of criticism the opportunity to respond, and avoid loaded language that undermines objectivity.

2.3 Independence & Impartiality

Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial, political, or external pressures. No advertiser, sponsor, donor, or affiliate may influence news coverage, editorial tone, or story selection.

2.4 Transparency & Attribution

We clearly attribute information to its sources. When using anonymous sources, we do so only when necessary to protect individuals or reveal information of public interest, and only after rigorous editorial review. Methodology, data sources, and potential conflicts are disclosed whenever relevant.

2.5 Accountability

Errors, whether editorial, factual, or presentational, will be corrected promptly and transparently. Significant corrections are logged publicly and explained to readers. We hold ourselves and our contributors to the highest standards of responsibility.

3. Editorial Standards

3.1 Conflict of Interest

Journalists, editors, and contributors must disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing their reporting. Undisclosed conflicts are grounds for editorial review and potential content removal.

3.2 Separation of Advertising & Editorial

There is a strict firewall between our advertising/sales department and our newsroom. Sponsored content, native advertising, and promotional materials are clearly labeled and never disguised as editorial journalism.

3.3 Opinions, Analysis & Guest Contributions

Opinion pieces, editorials, and guest contributions are clearly marked as such. They represent the views of the author or editorial board, not necessarily the institutional stance of Aevum News. We maintain the right to edit for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with this policy without altering core arguments.

3.4 Use of Data, AI & Automated Tools

Artificial intelligence and automated tools may assist in research, data analysis, and workflow optimization. However, final editorial judgment, fact-checking, and publication decisions remain exclusively human-driven. AI-generated content must be disclosed when used in reporting or analysis.

3.5 Sensitive Subject Matter

Reporting on trauma, violence, crime, or vulnerable populations is handled with care, dignity, and contextual awareness. Graphic content is not published gratuitously. We adhere to recognized ethical guidelines regarding the depiction of minors, victims, and ongoing legal proceedings.

4. Oversight & Accountability

This policy is enforced by the Aevum News Editorial Board, supported by an independent Editorial Standards Committee. The committee reviews policy compliance, adjudicates ethical disputes, and conducts periodic audits of published content.

  • Pre-Publication Review: All articles undergo multi-stage editorial and fact-checking review before publication.
  • Post-Publication Monitoring: Reader feedback, expert reviews, and data analytics inform continuous improvement.
  • Policy Updates: This document is reviewed annually and updated to reflect evolving journalistic standards, technological changes, and reader expectations.

5. Reader Feedback & Corrections

Transparency requires dialogue. Readers are encouraged to report errors, request clarifications, or submit ethical concerns. All submissions are reviewed within 48 hours. Significant corrections are published with clear notation and timestamps.
