Data Retention & Deletion Policy
Transparency is our foundation. This document outlines how long we retain your data, under what conditions, and how you can permanently delete it at any time.
1. Our Commitment to Data Minimization
At Aevum News, we believe that trust is built through transparency and control. We only retain personal and usage data for as long as strictly necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, and maintain platform security. Once data serves its purpose, it is securely purged from our active systems.
Key Principle
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Retention periods are strictly bound to functional necessity and regulatory requirements. You retain full ownership and control over your data.
2. Data Retention Schedule
The following table outlines the retention periods for different data categories across our platform:

3. Deletion Process & User Rights
You have the absolute right to request the permanent deletion of your account and associated data. Our process is designed to be swift, verifiable, and complete.
How to Request Deletion
Submit Request
Navigate to Settings → Privacy → Delete Account, or email privacy@aevumnews.com with subject line "Data Deletion Request".
Identity Verification
For security, we verify your identity via email confirmation or two-factor authentication. This prevents unauthorized account removal.
30-Day Grace Period
Requests enter a cooling-off period. You may cancel deletion at any time within 30 days. Afterward, the purge process begins automatically.
Permanent Purging
Active database records are deleted within 48 hours. Backup systems are wiped within 90 days. You will receive a confirmation email upon completion.
⚠️ Important Exceptions
Certain data may be retained beyond deletion requests to comply with tax laws, anti-fraud regulations, active legal holds, or pending security investigations. Such retention is strictly limited to the data required and the minimum duration legally mandated.
4. Technical Implementation & Backups
Our deletion protocols follow industry-standard cybersecurity practices:
- Logical Deletion: Immediate removal from production databases and active CDN caches.
- Anonymization: Where complete deletion is legally restricted, personal identifiers are cryptographically hashed or replaced with null values to render data unusable for profiling.
- Backup Lifecycle: We maintain offline backups for disaster recovery. These are purged on a 90-day cycle. Once flagged for deletion, your data will not be restored from backups.
- Third-Party Processors: All contracted service providers (analytics, payment gateways, hosting) are bound by strict Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) mirroring these retention and deletion obligations.
