OP-COMP-05 | Disposal & Decommissioning Protocols
1. Scope & Classification
This document establishes mandatory procedures for the safe, compliant, and auditable disposal of all corporate materials, digital assets, and decommissioned infrastructure across Aevum Zenth operations. Non-compliance may result in regulatory penalties, environmental liability, or security breaches.
All assets and materials must be classified prior to disposal according to the following taxonomy:
| Class | Description | Disposition Path | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class A | Hazardous chemicals, biomedical waste, radioactive materials | Certified hazardous waste contractor | Regulated |
| Class B | Electronic storage, servers, classified media | Physical destruction + cryptographic wipe | Security-Controlled |
| Class C | Standard IT equipment, office furniture, non-hazardous scrap | Recycling, resale, or landfill (last resort) | Standard |
| Class D | Experimental R&D prototypes, unapproved compounds | Containment chamber incineration / secure burial | Pending Review |
1.1 Hazardous & Chemical Disposal
Applicable to Energy, Health Sciences, Construction, and Research divisions handling EPA RCRA/TSCA-regulated substances.
Isolation & Labeling
Segregate materials by chemical class. Affix HAZ-MAT-A labels with UN numbers, hazard pictograms, and batch IDs.
Chain of Custody Initiation
Log material in the AevumTrack compliance portal. Generate digital manifest with QR verification.
Transport & Processing
Handoff to EPA-certified contractor only. Verify DOT-compliant containers. No unescorted transport permitted.
Closure & Audit Trail
Obtain Certificate of Destruction (CoD). Upload to divisional compliance ledger within 72 hours.
1.2 Digital & Data Asset Disposal
Aligned with NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1, GDPR, and Aevum Zenth Information Security Standard (AZ-ISS-09).
Data Classification & Scope
Identify storage media type (HDD, SSD, optical, cloud bucket). Tag with DATA-CLASS (Public/Internal/Confidential/Top Secret).
Sanitization Method
Confidential+: Physical degaussing + shredding (NAID AAA certified). Standard: DoD 5220.22-M overwrite ×3 passes.
Verification & Logging
Run cryptographic hash verification. Record serial numbers, method, operator ID, and timestamp in SecureVault.
1.3 Infrastructure & Equipment Decommissioning
Covers aerospace components, industrial machinery, medical devices, and commercial real estate assets.
Depower & Disconnect
Execute LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures. Drain fluids, disconnect power/network, isolate pneumatic/hydraulic lines.
Salvage & Parts Recovery
Harvest reusable components. Tag with REUSE-AUTH. Log in asset management system for redistribution.
Demolition & Recycling
Contract certified recyclers for metals, composites, and concrete. Ensure WEEE / RoHS compliance where applicable.
2. Authorization Workflow
All disposal actions require multi-level approval based on asset class and divisional risk tolerance.
Digital approvals are cryptographically signed and immutably logged. Physical sign-offs require wet signature + dual-witness protocol for Class A/D materials.
3. Regulatory Compliance Framework
Aevum Zenth adheres to the following international and regional standards. Local subsidiaries must map to equivalent national regulations.
| Standard / Regulation | Scope | Enforcement Body |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 14001:2015 | Environmental Management Systems | Internal Audit / SGS |
| EPA RCRA (40 CFR) | Hazardous Waste Management | US EPA / State Agencies |
| EU REACH / CLP | Chemical Registration & Labeling | ECHA |
| NIST SP 800-88 | Media Sanitization | CISA / Internal Security |
| ISO 45001:2018 | Occupational Health & Safety | Global Safety Directorate |
4. Emergency Containment Procedures
In the event of accidental release, breach, or unauthorized disposal:
- Evacuate & Secure: Activate site alarm. Establish 50m exclusion zone. Deploy spill kits if safe.
- Notify Command: Contact Global Emergency Operations Center (GEOC) via secure line:
+1-888-AEVUM-911 - Document & Preserve: Photograph scene, preserve chain of custody, do not tamper with evidence.
- Regulatory Reporting: GEOC will initiate mandatory notifications to EPA/OSHA/Local Authorities within statutory windows.
5. Documentation & Sign-off
Every disposal event must be closed with a standardized Digital Disposal Record (DDR). Records are retained for a minimum of 10 years, or 15 years for Class A/B materials.
Template fields include: Asset ID, Classification, Disposal Method, Contractor License #, CoD Reference, Operator ID, Witness ID, Timestamp, Geolocation, and Audit Hash.
Compliance Note: Failure to adhere to OP-COMP-05 may result in immediate suspension of disposal privileges, internal disciplinary action, and regulatory referral.
