Role Overview
Aevum Zenth's Aerospace Division is pioneering commercial orbital manufacturing, leveraging microgravity environments to produce materials and components impossible to fabricate on Earth. As the Orbital Manufacturing Lead, you will oversee mission-critical production lines, manage cross-functional engineering teams, and establish industry standards for space-based industrial operations.
This role reports directly to the Director of Space Infrastructure and operates on a 6-month rotational deployment schedule between Low Earth Orbit (LEO) facilities and our Neo Geneva Mission Control Hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and monitor end-to-end manufacturing processes in microgravity environments, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and timeline metrics.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of materials scientists, robotics engineers, and mission operations specialists during active production cycles.
- Implement AI-driven predictive maintenance and real-time quality assurance protocols for orbital fabrication systems.
- Coordinate with Earth-based supply chain logistics to optimize payload mass, thermal management, and component staging.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety compliance frameworks aligned with NASA-STD-3001 and ISO 14644 standards.
- Identify process improvements to increase yield rates, reduce consumable usage, and accelerate time-to-market for space-manufactured products.
Qualifications & Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, with at least 3 years in aerospace, defense, or spaceflight environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing high-stakes, multi-million-dollar production or engineering programs.
- Familiarity with vacuum/microgravity material processing, additive manufacturing, or crystal growth techniques.
- Strong understanding of spaceflight safety protocols, human factors engineering, and cross-cultural team coordination.
- Ability to pass rigorous physical, psychological, and security clearance screenings required for orbital deployment.
