How Cloud Transfer Works
Bandwidth is allocated per region, reset monthly, and intelligently routed across our 50+ global data centers. We optimize for throughput, latency, and cost efficiency.
๐ŸŒ

Global AnyCast Routing

Traffic is automatically routed to the nearest edge node, reducing latency and optimizing transfer speeds across all regions.

๐Ÿ“Š

Predictable Allocation

Monthly transfer allowances are strictly enforced with clear warnings at 80% and 95% usage. No surprise throttling until grace period expires.

Burstable Throughput

All tiers support short-duration burst speeds up to 10 Gbps for backup jobs, media processing, and large dataset migrations.

Overage & Fair Use Policies
We believe in transparent networking. Here's exactly how excess traffic and network sharing are handled.

Grace Period & Alerts Standard

At 80% and 95% usage, you'll receive automated alerts via email, SMS, and API webhook. A 48-hour grace period allows you to upgrade or optimize before any overage charges or throttling apply.

Dynamic Throttling Fair Use

If overage limits are exceeded, throughput is temporarily capped at 50% of your tier's sustained speed for 24 hours. This prevents network congestion while you resolve capacity issues.

Shared Network Allocation Enterprise

Standard tiers share aggregate bandwidth pools. Performance and above tiers receive dedicated virtual circuits. Unmetered customers get provisioned physical ports with guaranteed isolation.

Intra-Region Transfer Free

All traffic between instances, storage buckets, and databases within the same geographic region is 100% free. Cross-region traffic counts against your allocation at standard rates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Technical and billing questions regarding bandwidth management.
How is transfer bandwidth calculated?
+

Bandwidth is calculated based on the total volume of data transferred in and out of your region during the billing cycle. Internal traffic between CloudNexus resources in the same region is excluded. We use 95th percentile measurement for burst-heavy workloads on Performance+ tiers.

Can I combine multiple tiers?
+

Yes. You can assign different transfer tiers to different projects or regions. Usage is tracked independently per allocation, and billing is aggregated at the account level.

What happens during global traffic spikes?
+

Our anycast network dynamically balances load across edge nodes. If a single region approaches capacity, traffic is intelligently rerouted to neighboring zones with available headroom, ensuring minimal latency impact.

Do CDN caches count toward my transfer tier?
+

First-byte transfers from origin servers count against your allocation. Subsequent edge-cache hits are billed at a discounted 40% rate, rewarding efficient content distribution architectures.
