Our Story

Founded in 2018, Dictionary began as a small editorial collective driven by a single question: How can we preserve linguistic heritage while making it accessible to the modern world?

What started as a weekend project among three linguists and a software engineer quickly grew into a mission-driven organization. We noticed that while information was more accessible than ever, true linguistic context — etymology, cultural nuance, regional variation, and historical evolution — was often lost in translation.

We set out to build something different. Not just another search tool, but a living archive. A platform where every word carries its history, every definition acknowledges its context, and every user gains a deeper appreciation for the languages they speak, study, or simply wonder about.
