Best hypoallergenic food for sensitive stomachs?

Hey everyone! My 3-year-old Golden Retriever has been having recurring tummy issues since we switched brands last month. He's developed mild sensitivities to chicken and wheat.

I'm looking for recommendations on hypoallergenic or limited-ingredient formulas that actually work. Has anyone tried novel protein diets like venison or duck? Or any prescription brands that have helped your pets?

Any tips on transitioning slowly would be appreciated too! Thanks in advance 🐾

Hi there! As a vet tech, I always recommend checking with your veterinarian before making major dietary changes, especially for sensitive stomachs.

That said, limited-ingredient diets with single protein sources (like salmon or rabbit) and highly digestible carbs (sweet potato, oats) tend to work well. Brands like Hill's z/d or Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein are clinically proven, but high-quality natural brands like Open Farm or JustFoodForDogs can also be great if formulated correctly.

Transition over 7-10 days: mix 25% new / 75% old, gradually increasing the new ratio. Keep a symptom journal to track improvements!
