The Challenge
Alpine Summit had been a staple in the outdoor adventure industry for over two decades. However, their brand presence felt disconnected from the modern explorer. The existing identity was static, the digital experience was outdated, and they were losing significant market share to agile, digitally-native competitors.
The objective was clear: Revitalize the brand to appeal to the next generation of adventurers (Gen Z and Millennials) without alienating the loyal core audience. This required a delicate balance—honoring heritage while boldly stepping into the future.
We needed to solve for:
• Brand Perception: Shift from "traditional outdoor retailer" to "lifestyle adventure curator."
• Digital Engagement: Modernize the web presence to drive e-commerce conversion and community building.
• Visual Consistency: Create a flexible design system that works across physical retail, digital touchpoints, and social media.
The Solution
Our approach began with deep immersion. We spent two weeks conducting workshops with the Alpine team, interviewing customers, and analyzing market trends. This discovery phase revealed a key insight: modern adventurers don't just buy gear; they buy stories of transformation.
We repositioned Alpine Summit around the concept of "Wherever You Ascend"—a universal truth that connects urban explorers, mountain climbers, and everything in between.
Visual Identity System
The new identity introduces a dynamic logotype that can be manipulated based on context, paired with a vibrant, earth-inspired color palette that pops on digital screens. We introduced abstract topographical elements as a core graphic language, creating a visual texture that feels both organic and digital.
Digital Experience
The website was rebuilt from the ground up using Next.js for performance and custom WebGL interactions for storytelling. We focused on micro-interactions that reward exploration, mirroring the brand's core value. Product pages now feature 360° views and immersive video backgrounds to bridge the gap between online browsing and tactile retail.
Process & Craft
Our design process is iterative and collaborative. We utilized Figma for rapid prototyping and user testing, ensuring every decision was backed by user feedback. The development phase involved close partnership with Alpine's internal engineering team to ensure scalability.
Key technical decisions included:
- Implementation of a Headless CMS for agile content management.
- Custom animation library to ensure consistent motion design across all platforms.
- Accessibility-first approach, achieving WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Impact & Results
Since the launch of the new brand and digital platform, Alpine Summit has seen remarkable growth across key metrics. The rebrand successfully captured the attention of younger demographics while maintaining strong engagement with existing customers.
The campaign also garnered industry recognition, earning the "Best Outdoor Brand Redesign" at the 2024 Creative Awards.
"PRISM didn't just design a logo or build a website; they helped us redefine who we are. The team's strategic insight combined with their creative execution was truly world-class. We are excited for this new chapter."
