Preservation Methodology

How we're keeping dead Java applets alive.

📦 JAR Recovery & Decompilation

We reconstruct corrupted archives using byte-level reconstruction and cross-reference archived HTML embed tags to locate missing class files and resource manifests.

🖥️ Browserless Emulation

Applets run in a sandboxed JVM 1.4.2 environment with hardware-accelerated rendering, completely bypassing deprecated NPAPI browser plugin requirements.

📜 Source Code Archiving

Where available, original .java source files from mailing lists, Usenet groups, and commercial CD-ROMs are preserved with build instructions and dependency trees.
