Depending on the severity of the violation and the contributor's history, our moderation team applies graduated enforcement measures.

Level 1
đŸ’Ŧ

Warning & Notice

A formal warning is issued to the contributor explaining the violation and linking to the relevant guideline. The content may be edited or hidden temporarily.

Level 2
✏ī¸

Content Removal

The violating content is removed or restricted. The contributor's account receives a strike and editorial privileges may be temporarily limited.

Level 3
🔒

Temporary Suspension

The account is suspended from editing and contributing for a defined period (7–30 days). All pending contributions are placed under review.

Level 4
đŸšĢ

Permanent Ban

Reserved for severe, repeated, or deliberate violations. The account is permanently disabled and all content is subject to full editorial review.

âš ī¸

All enforcement actions are logged and can be reviewed through the appeals process. We believe in fairness and due process for every contributor. No action is taken without documented evidence and moderator consensus.

đŸ“Ŧ Appeals Process

If you believe a moderation action was applied incorrectly or unfairly, you have the right to appeal. All appeals are reviewed by a separate panel of senior moderators who were not involved in the original decision.

1

Submit Appeal

Use our appeal form within 30 days of the enforcement action. Include the action reference number and your justification.

2

Panel Assignment

A panel of 3 senior moderators is randomly assigned to your case. You can request the recusal of any panel member with a conflict of interest.

3

Deliberation

The panel reviews the original evidence, your appeal statement, and any additional context. Deliberation typically takes 3–5 business days.

4

Final Decision

A majority vote determines the outcome: uphold, modify, or reverse the original action. The decision is final and communicated in writing within 24 hours of the vote.

📧

Appeals can also be submitted directly to appeals@aevum-encyclopedia.com. For urgent matters involving critical account access, please call our moderation hotline at +1 (888) 555-AEVM.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our content moderation policies and processes.

How quickly will my report be reviewed? +
Response times depend on severity. Critical violations (harmful content, hate speech) are reviewed within 15–30 minutes. Major violations (misinformation, harassment) within 2–24 hours. Minor issues (spam, quality) within 48–72 hours. You'll receive email notifications at each stage of the review process.
Can I report content anonymously? +
Yes. While we encourage signed reports so we can follow up with you, anonymous reports are accepted and processed. However, anonymous reports may take slightly longer since we cannot request additional information from the reporter if needed.
What happens if I abuse the reporting system? +
Reports that are found to be made in bad faith — such as mass-reporting a user's content due to a personal dispute — may result in the reporter's account being restricted from submitting further reports. We take report integrity seriously to ensure genuine concerns are prioritized.
How are moderators trained and selected? +
Our moderators are selected from our most trusted community members and hired professionals. All moderators undergo a 40-hour training program covering platform policies, bias awareness, cultural sensitivity, and case law precedents. They also receive quarterly refresher training and performance evaluations.
Is there a limit to how many times I can appeal? +
You may submit one appeal per enforcement action. The panel's decision is final. However, if new evidence emerges that was not available during the original review or appeal, you may contact our ombudsman at ombudsman@aevum-encyclopedia.com for a potential reopening.
How does Aevum handle copyright complaints? +
We comply with the DMCA and international copyright laws. Copyright reports can be submitted through our standard report form under the "Copyright Infringement" category. For formal DMCA takedown notices, please send them to copyright@aevum-encyclopedia.com. Counter-notifications are also accepted and processed according to applicable law.
Can I become a volunteer moderator? +
Yes! We welcome experienced community members to apply for our volunteer moderator program. Requirements include: a minimum of 6 months on the platform, 500+ quality contributions, no enforcement actions in the past year, and completion of our moderator certification course. Apply through our Moderator Application Portal.
