Contributor Code of Conduct
Our commitment to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and high-quality collaborative environment for all contributors, reviewers, and community members.
1. Purpose & Scope
Aevum Encyclopedia exists to democratize knowledge through collaborative, expert-verified contributions. This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals participating in our ecosystem, including but not limited to article authors, peer reviewers, discussion forum participants, event attendees, and anyone representing the community in official channels.
We are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status, national origin, religion, or political affiliation.
Our Guiding Principle: Knowledge thrives where respect, accuracy, and inclusivity intersect. Every contribution should advance understanding without diminishing the dignity of others.
2. Core Principles
🤝 Respect & Empathy
Treat every contributor, reviewer, and reader with professionalism and kindness. Disagreements are inevitable; hostility is not.
🔍 Integrity & Accuracy
Prioritize verifiable facts over opinion. Cite credible sources, acknowledge limitations, and correct errors transparently.
🌍 Inclusivity & Diversity
Actively welcome perspectives from underrepresented fields and regions. Avoid jargon without explanation.
🛡️ Constructive Dialogue
Offer feedback that improves content, not contributors. Assume good faith and focus on the work, not the person.
3. Expected Behavior
- Write clear, neutral, and well-sourced content aligned with our editorial guidelines.
- Engage in peer review with specific, actionable, and respectful suggestions.
- Use inclusive language and avoid assumptions about readers' backgrounds or knowledge.
- Accept critique gracefully and implement valid feedback without defensiveness.
- Protect the privacy of yourself and others; never share personal information without explicit consent.
- Report policy violations promptly through official channels rather than confronting offenders publicly.
- Disclose potential conflicts of interest when editing articles related to your employer, clients, or personal investments.
4. Unacceptable Behavior
The following actions violate this Code and will result in enforcement measures:
- Harassment & Abuse: Verbal, written, or digital attacks targeting identity, appearance, beliefs, or work style.
- Discrimination: Excluding, mocking, or marginalizing individuals based on protected characteristics.
- Plagiarism & Misrepresentation: Using others' work without attribution, fabricating citations, or presenting AI-generated text as human-written without disclosure.
- Disruption: Spamming, trolling, brigading, or derailing discussions with irrelevant or inflammatory content.
- Doxxing & Threats: Publishing private information or making threats of harm, legal action, or professional retaliation.
- Bypassing Oversight: Creating alt accounts to evade restrictions, manipulate votes, or harass moderation teams.
- Intellectual Property Violations: Uploading copyrighted material without license or fair-use justification.
