Format Agnosticism
We never lock content into proprietary or vendor-dependent formats. All text is stored in UTF-8 XML/HTML5, images in lossless PNG/TIFF with PDF/A derivatives, and media in open codecs.
Metadata Integrity
Rich, structured metadata follows Dublin Core, METS, and MODS standards. Provenance, version history, and editorial decisions are cryptographically signed and immutable.
Distributed Redundancy
Data is synchronously replicated across geographically dispersed nodes. No single point of failure, jurisdiction, or infrastructure outage can compromise access.
Proactive Migration
Continuous monitoring detects format degradation or software dependency shifts. Automated pipelines migrate content forward without altering original semantic meaning.
How We Ensure Fixity
Ingestion & Hashing
Every submitted file and revision generates a cryptographic hash at rest and in transit. These hashes anchor the content to a tamper-evident ledger.
Scheduled Fixity Checks
Automated agents run integrity scans every 24 hours across all storage tiers. Any mismatch triggers immediate recovery from verified backups.
Versioned Immutable Archives
Major revisions create new immutable snapshots. Previous versions are preserved in cold storage with full contextual metadata and editorial rationale.
Public Transparency Reports
Quarterly preservation audits are published openly. Third-party archivists can verify fixity, redundancy levels, and migration success rates.
