License Agreement & Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using the Aevum Encyclopedia platform (the "Platform"), including its articles, databases, AI tools, and related services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this License Agreement ("Agreement"). If you do not agree to these terms, you must immediately cease use of the Platform.
Minors under the age of 16 may only use the Platform with parental or guardian consent. Commercial reuse requires explicit acknowledgment of Section 4 and 8.
2. Definitions
- "Aevum" or "We/Us": Aevum Encyclopedia Ltd., a registered knowledge technology company.
- "Content": All text, images, data, multimedia, metadata, and structural elements published on the Platform.
- "AI-Enhanced Content": Articles, summaries, or insights generated or augmented by Aevum's proprietary artificial intelligence systems.
- "Contributor": Any verified user, expert, or institution submitting original material to the Platform.
- "Licensee": The individual or entity accessing or using the Platform under this Agreement.
3. Grant of License
Subject to compliance with this Agreement, Aevum grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, worldwide license to:
- Access, read, and view Content for personal, educational, and non-commercial research purposes.
- Download, print, and store limited portions of Content for offline reference.
- Use AI-Enhanced Content for learning, citation, and internal knowledge management.
Open License Notice: All original editorial Content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0), unless otherwise specified on the article page.
4. Permitted Uses
You may use Aevum Content for:
- Academic research, coursework, and institutional teaching
- Journalistic reference and factual verification
- Internal business training and knowledge bases
- Derivative works, provided attribution and share-alike requirements are met
- API integration for non-commercial applications (subject to rate limits)
5. Restrictions
You may not:
- Reproduce, distribute, or sell Content in a manner that implies Aevum endorsement
- Remove, obscure, or alter copyright notices, watermarks, or attribution metadata
- Scrape, crawl, or extract Content at scale using automated tools without written permission
- Use Content to train proprietary AI models without explicit commercial licensing
- Host mirrored or derivative versions that conflict with the ShareAlike clause
6. AI-Enhanced Content & Verification
Aevum utilizes machine learning to cross-reference sources, summarize complex topics, and suggest connections. While AI-Enhanced Content undergoes multi-layer verification, it may occasionally contain inaccuracies or contextual limitations.
AI-generated outputs are provided as supplementary reference material. They do not replace primary sources, peer-reviewed literature, or professional consultation. Aevum assumes no liability for decisions made solely on AI-generated insights.
7. User Contributions
By submitting articles, edits, media, or datasets to Aevum, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and distribute your contribution under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 terms. You represent that you hold all necessary rights and that your contribution does not violate third-party intellectual property.
Contributors retain moral rights to be credited where practicable. We reserve the right to edit, decline, or remove contributions that violate community guidelines or legal standards.
8. Attribution Requirements
When reusing, adapting, or citing Aevum Content, you must provide clear attribution including:
- Title of the article or dataset
- Author/Contributor name (if specified)
- Link to the original Aevum page
- License type (CC BY-SA 4.0)
- Notice of any modifications made
Example format: "[Article Title], Aevum Encyclopedia. Licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Accessed [Date]."
9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Content is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Aevum does not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or real-time updates.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aevum and its contributors, partners, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Platform or its Content.
10. Termination
This Agreement remains in effect until terminated. Aevum may suspend or terminate access for violations of this Agreement, illegal activity, or platform security concerns. Termination does not waive rights accrued prior to the effective date. Licensed Content may continue to be used under the terms granted at the time of access, provided compliance is maintained.
11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Cayman Islands, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall first be subject to good-faith mediation. If unresolved, disputes shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce.
12. Amendments
Aevum reserves the right to modify this Agreement at any time. Material changes will be notified via platform announcement, email to registered users, or prominent display on the landing page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
