The binding principles that unite contributors, readers, and the Aevum Encyclopedia in our shared pursuit of verifiable, unbiased, and accessible knowledge for all.

Preamble

We, the collective of contributors, readers, and stewards of the Aevum Encyclopedia, recognize that knowledge is a public trust. We affirm that truth transcends borders, bias, and time. This contract establishes the ethical framework, rights, and responsibilities that govern our community. By participating in Aevum, you pledge to uphold these principles and honor the dignity of every seeker of knowledge.

ART. I

Core Principles

1. Neutrality of Point of View

All content must present significant views fairly, proportionally, and without editorial bias. No single perspective shall dominate unless it represents overwhelming consensus among reliable sources. Controversial topics require balanced representation of credible viewpoints.

2. Verifiability & Attribution

Every factual claim must be traceable to primary or secondary reliable sources. Original research is prohibited. AI-generated content must be flagged and manually verified by human experts before publication. Citations are not optional—they are the foundation of trust.

3. Respect & Good Faith

Disagreements about content must be resolved through civil discourse and evidence-based argumentation. Personal attacks, harassment, and bad-faith editing violate this contract. We assume good intent but enforce accountability.

4. Accessibility & Inclusion

Knowledge must be free from artificial barriers. Aevum remains open-access for all learners. We actively work to represent underrepresented cultures, languages, and perspectives, ensuring the encyclopedia reflects the diversity of human experience.

5. Transparency in Governance

All editorial decisions, moderation actions, and policy changes are publicly documented. The Aevum Board operates with open deliberation. Contributors have the right to appeal decisions and participate in governance evolution.

AI Alignment & Ethics

Aevum leverages artificial intelligence to enhance knowledge discovery, but humans remain the ultimate guardians of truth. Our AI principles include:

  • Human-in-the-Loop: No AI-generated content is published without expert human review and approval.
  • Transparency Labeling: Readers are always informed when AI assisted in drafting or structuring content.
  • Bias Mitigation: AI models are continuously audited for cultural, gender, and ideological biases.
  • No Hallucination Tolerance: AI outputs must cite verifiable sources; ungrounded claims are automatically rejected.
  • Contributor Augmentation: AI serves as a research assistant, not a replacement for human expertise and judgment.

Governance & Enforcement

Community Reporting

Any violation of this contract can be reported by users through our transparency portal. Reports are anonymized and reviewed within 48 hours.

Mediation & Review

Disputes are first mediated by elected community stewards. Unresolved issues escalate to the Aevum Editorial Board for binding decision.

Proportional Remedies

Enforcement ranges from content reversion and warnings to temporary restrictions or contributor suspension, proportional to severity and intent.

Appeals & Amendment

All parties may appeal decisions. This contract itself is amendable through community-wide proposal and ratification processes.
