Our Core Principles
Every decision we make, from sourcing to publication, is guided by a strict ethical framework designed to protect the truth and serve the public interest.
Editorial Independence
Our newsroom operates free from commercial, political, or external influence. Editorial decisions are made solely by journalists.
Rigorous Verification
Multi-source verification, expert review, and AI-assisted fact-checking protocols ensure accuracy before publication.
Clear Correction Policy
Mistakes, when they occur, are corrected promptly, transparently, and with clear documentation of what changed and why.
Conflict Disclosure
Financial, personal, or institutional conflicts are disclosed upfront. Staff must declare any potential bias before assignment.
Detailed Policies & Standards
Aevum News maintains a strict firewall between our editorial and business divisions. Our Editorial Board, composed of senior journalists and ethics experts, reviews all major investigative pieces and editorial guidelines quarterly.
- No advertisers, sponsors, or board members may dictate coverage or influence editorial judgment.
- All partnerships and sponsored content are clearly labeled and segregated from news reporting.
- Our Ombudsman operates independently to review reader complaints and publish monthly transparency reports.
Every article undergoes a three-tier verification process before going live:
- Primary Review: Reporter and section editor verify sources, citations, and data integrity.
- Fact-Check Desk: Dedicated team cross-references claims with primary documents, expert databases, and independent archives.
- Legal & Ethics Screen: Final review for defamation risk, privacy compliance, and adherence to our style/ethics guide.
We do not publish unverified rumors, anonymous allegations without corroboration, or content that violates journalistic standards.
We recognize that journalism is iterative. When errors occur, we correct them openly:
- Corrections: Minor factual errors are fixed in-line with a timestamped correction note at the top of the article.
- Retractions: Stories with fundamental factual failures are fully retracted, archived, and replaced with a clear explanation.
- Amplifications: If new information significantly changes a story's context, we publish an addendum and link it prominently.
All corrections are logged publicly in our Corrections Archive.
We collect minimal data, use no dark patterns, and never sell reader information. Our content recommendation system is transparent and opt-in:
- No behavioral tracking for ad targeting. We do not use third-party ad networks.
- Content suggestions are based on editorial curation and user-selected topic preferences.
- Full privacy documentation and data deletion tools are available in your account settings.
Financial & Funding Transparency
Aevum News operates on a reader-supported, non-partisan model. We do not accept political contributions, government grants for editorial content, or undisclosed corporate sponsorships.
| Funding Source | Percentage | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Direct Subscriptions (Monthly/Annual) | 68% | Verified |
| Institutional Membership Programs | 15% | Verified |
| Transparent Branded Content (Clearly Labeled) | 12% | Segregated |
| Grants & Public Interest Funding | 5% | Published |
Our annual audited financial summary is published each Q1 and available to the public. We believe transparency about how we operate strengthens public trust in journalism.
