3. User-Generated Content & Licensing

By submitting content to Dictionary—including custom glossaries, community notes, flashcards, pronunciation uploads, or collaborative annotations—you retain ownership of your original contributions. However, you grant Dictionary a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, display, distribute, modify, and archive such content for the purpose of operating, improving, and delivering our services.

Note: Dictionary reserves the right to review, edit, or remove user-generated content that violates our Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, or applicable intellectual property laws.

3. Third-Party Content & External Data

Dictionary incorporates linguistic data, academic references, open-source corpora, and API integrations from third-party providers. All third-party materials are used in accordance with their respective licenses, including Creative Commons, open government data frameworks, and academic fair-use provisions.

Attribution is provided where required. If you believe third-party content hosted or referenced on our platform infringes upon your rights, please submit a notice under Section 6 below.

5. Fair Use & Educational Exceptions

  • Clear attribution is given to Dictionary Inc.
  • Excerpts do not exceed reasonable limits for the stated purpose.
