  • OGC Standards: WMS, WFS, WCS, WMTS, CSW
  • Vector formats: GeoJSON, Shapefile, KML, GML, GeoPackage
  • Raster formats: GeoTIFF, JPEG2000, NetCDF, HDF
  • Databases: PostGIS, MySQL, Oracle Spatial, SQLite
  • Tile formats: MVT, PNG, JPEG, WebP
The number of layers depends on your plan. The Starter plan supports up to 2 map layers. The Professional plan offers unlimited layers. Enterprise customers receive unlimited layers along with dedicated infrastructure optimized for high-throughput rendering.
Yes. We support SLD (Styled Layer Descriptor), CSS-based styling, and our proprietary visual style editor. You can create custom color schemes, symbol sets, label rules, and conditional formatting. Professional and Enterprise plans also include the ability to save and share style templates across your team.
Yes, our Professional and Enterprise plans support real-time spatial data streaming. You can ingest live data from IoT sensors, GPS trackers, weather stations, and other sources. Data is processed and visualized with sub-second latency. This feature requires the Professional plan or above.
GeoServer includes built-in spatial analytics such as buffer analysis, proximity searches, overlay operations, spatial joins, and statistical aggregation. Advanced features like heat maps, density analysis, and route optimization are available on Professional and Enterprise plans. You can also connect to external analytics engines via our REST API.

💻 Technical

We guarantee 99.99% uptime for Professional plans and an enhanced 99.999% uptime for Enterprise plans. Our infrastructure is deployed across multiple regions with automatic failover and redundancy. You can monitor our status in real time at status.geoserver.io.
Yes. Enterprise customers can deploy GeoServer on-premise, in a private cloud, or in a hybrid configuration. We provide Docker images, Kubernetes Helm charts, and Terraform templates for deployment. Our team also offers assisted deployment and ongoing maintenance for self-hosted installations.
Security is built into every layer of our platform:
  • AES-256 encryption for data at rest
  • TLS 1.3 for data in transit
  • Role-based access control (RBAC) with granular permissions
  • OAuth2 / SSO / SAML authentication
  • GDPR and SOC 2 Type II compliant
  • Regular penetration testing and security audits
Storage limits vary by plan: Starter offers 10GB, Professional offers 500GB, and Enterprise plans provide unlimited storage. For datasets exceeding your plan's limit, you can upgrade, use our pay-as-you-go overage option, or store data in an external database (PostGIS, etc.) and reference it through GeoServer.
Yes. GeoServer provides a comprehensive REST API and SDK support for JavaScript, Python, and Java. The API allows you to manage layers, styles, data stores, and users programmatically. Full API documentation is available at docs.geoserver.io/api. Professional and Enterprise plans also include GraphQL support.

🔗 Integrations

Absolutely. GeoServer has full compatibility with QGIS. You can connect directly to your GeoServer instance from QGIS to publish, style, and manage layers. Changes made in QGIS sync with GeoServer in real time, making it an ideal combination for desktop GIS workflows.
Yes. PostGIS is a first-class data store in GeoServer. You can connect to any PostGIS database and expose its spatial tables as WMS/WFS layers. We support spatial indexing, query optimization, and live updates. PostGIS integration works across all plans.
GeoServer works seamlessly with all major web mapping libraries including Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox GL JS, MapLibre, CesiumJS (for 3D), and Deck.gl. Since we follow OGC standards, any library that supports WMS/WFS/WMTS can connect to GeoServer without additional configuration.
Yes. GeoServer can connect to a wide range of third-party data sources including ArcGIS Server, GeoJSON endpoints, CSV/CSV files, BigQuery, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and custom data sources via our JDBC connector framework. Professional and Enterprise plans include webhook integrations for real-time data pipelines.
