Conformance with Accessibility Standards

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. InkWell is conformed to Level AA of the WCAG 2.1 standards.

This includes meeting success criteria for perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust content across our web application and reading platform.

Accessibility Features

• Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are fully operable using keyboard commands like Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, and arrow keys.
• Screen Reader Support: Semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, live regions, and proper labeling ensure compatibility with assistive technologies like NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
• Text Alternatives: All meaningful images, icons, charts, and media include descriptive alt text, captions, or transcriptions.
• Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
• Resizable Text: Content remains fully functional, readable, and properly laid out when text is resized up to 200% without requiring horizontal scrolling.
• Motion & Animation: We respect user preferences with prefers-reduced-motion support to disable non-essential animations and transitions.
• Error Identification & Recovery: Forms and interactive components provide clear, accessible error messages and suggestions for correction.

We continuously update our development practices, content guidelines, and training programs to stay aligned with evolving standards, emerging technologies, and community needs.
