Termination & Suspension Policy
This document outlines StarWave Entertainment's policies regarding the suspension and termination of user accounts, creator partnerships, and platform access. Please read carefully to understand your rights and obligations.
1. Purpose & Scope
StarWave Entertainment reserves the right to temporarily suspend or permanently terminate accounts, subscriptions, or creator partnerships when necessary to protect our platform, users, content ecosystem, and legal compliance obligations. This policy applies to all registered users, content creators, brand partners, and service subscribers.
2. Grounds for Suspension
Temporary suspension may be initiated for the following reasons:
- Suspected violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service
- Unusual account activity suggesting unauthorized access or fraud
- Pending payment disputes or failed billing transactions
- Technical maintenance, platform migration, or security audits
- Legal holds or regulatory investigations involving account content
- Repeated content strikes or copyright infringement notices
Suspensions typically last between 24 hours to 30 days, depending on severity. Users will receive an in-app notification and email explaining the reason and expected duration.
3. Grounds for Termination
Permanent termination may occur when:
- Severe or repeated violations of platform policies or legal standards
- Use of the platform for illegal activities, harassment, or hate speech
- Commercial misuse, scalping, or unauthorized API/data scraping
- Failure to resolve outstanding financial obligations after 60 days
- Voluntary request by the user to close their account
- Long-term inactivity (over 24 months) combined with data retention compliance
4. Notification & Appeal Process
StarWave will make reasonable efforts to notify users before enforcement actions:
- Warning Phase: Minor violations receive a strike and educational notice
- Notice Phase: Serious issues trigger a formal suspension/termination notice via email and dashboard
- Appeal Window: Users have 14 days to submit an appeal through our Support Portal with supporting documentation
- Review Panel: All appeals are evaluated by our Trust & Safety team within 5 business days
Decisions made during the appeal process are final. Emergency suspensions (e.g., imminent legal risk or security threats) may bypass standard notice periods.
5. Post-Termination Data Handling
Upon account termination, the following data lifecycle applies:
- User Content: Original uploads are retained for 30 days in case of reinstatement or data export requests
- Personal Information: Stored securely for 12 months to comply with tax, legal, and dispute resolution requirements
- Analytics & Usage Data: Anonymized after 90 days for platform improvement and aggregate reporting
- Permanent Deletion: After retention periods expire, all data is cryptographically erased from active and backup systems
You may request a full data export prior to termination or within 30 days post-termination via the Account Settings dashboard.
6. Reinstatement & Account Recovery
Accounts suspended for technical or billing issues may be reinstated immediately upon resolution. For policy-related suspensions:
- Completion of required compliance training or policy acknowledgment
- Submission of a corrected content portfolio or revised partnership proposal
- Graduated access restoration (e.g., read-only mode before full permissions)
StarWave reserves the right to deny reinstatement if trust and safety thresholds cannot be reasonably met.
