1. Overview & Commitment

At #about, intellectual property (IP) is the foundation of our creative ecosystem. We respect the rights of creators, clients, and open-source contributors alike. This policy outlines how we create, license, protect, and manage IP across all projects, internal tools, and public contributions.

Our principle is simple: credit where it's due, protect what's original, and ensure every stakeholder knows exactly what they own and how they can use it.

3. Client Work & Licensing

Client projects are governed by our service agreements, which clearly define ownership and usage rights:

  • Final Deliverables: Upon full payment, clients receive a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use the final approved deliverables for their intended business purposes.
  • Background IP: Pre-existing assets, frameworks, and reusable code/components developed by #about remain our property. Clients receive usage rights but not ownership of underlying systems.
  • Source Files & Assets: Transfer of raw files (e.g., Figma projects, unminified code, layered PSDs) is available upon request and subject to additional licensing terms.
  • Portfolio Rights: Unless restricted by NDA or explicit client request, #about reserves the right to showcase completed work in our portfolio, press, and marketing materials.

4. Third-Party & Open Source Materials

We leverage third-party libraries, stock assets, and open-source software to accelerate development while maintaining strict compliance:

  • Licensing Compliance: All third-party tools are used in accordance with their respective licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0, GPL, CC-BY, etc.). Attribution is maintained where required.
  • Stock Assets: Images, fonts, and media are licensed through verified commercial providers. Client projects include proof of licensing upon delivery.
  • Open Source Contributions: When we release internal tools publicly, we choose licenses that align with community standards and clearly document usage boundaries.
  • Dependency Audits: Our engineering team runs regular license compatibility and security audits on all project dependencies.

5. Trademarks & Brand Assets

The #about name, logo, wordmarks, and associated visual identity are registered trademarks. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or modification of our brand assets is strictly prohibited.

Similarly, we assist clients in protecting their trademarks by:

  • Conducting preliminary clearance checks during branding phases
  • Delivering brand guidelines that define proper usage, clear space, and prohibited modifications
  • Recommending trademark registration pathways where applicable

6. Reporting Infringement

If you believe your intellectual property has been infringed upon by content hosted or distributed by #about, please submit a detailed notice including:

  • A description of the copyrighted work
  • The URL or location of the allegedly infringing material
  • Your contact information (email, address, phone)
  • A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized
  • A statement under penalty of perjury regarding accuracy
  • Electronic or physical signature of the rights holder

We respond to all valid DMCA takedown requests and IP infringement reports within 5 business days and will take appropriate action to remove or modify content as required by law.

7. Compliance & Contact

This policy is reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in copyright law, licensing standards, and industry best practices. By engaging with #about, clients and partners acknowledge these terms.
