A curated collection of half a million personal homepages from the golden age of the web — GeoCities, Angelfire, Tripod, and the wild frontier of early self-expression on the internet.
This collection represents one of the most significant digital preservation efforts in history. Between 1993 and 2005, millions of individuals created personal homepages — their first act of digital self-expression. When hosting platforms like GeoCities and Angelfire shut down, much of this cultural heritage was at risk of being lost forever.
Our specialized crawling system was built to handle the technical quirks of 90s web pages — table-based layouts, deprecated HTML tags, frames, and custom server protocols that no longer exist on the modern web.
Every page is archived in its original form — all HTML, CSS, GIFs, MIDI files, cursor themes, tiled backgrounds, animated GIF banners, and even the "under construction" signs that defined an era.
Each archived page includes a cryptographic hash, a timestamp of capture, and metadata about the original server environment. Researchers can verify the authenticity of any archived content.
GeoCities, Angelfire, Tripod, Homestead, Homepages by AOL, Yahoo GeoCities Neighborhoods, custom domains hosted on dialup, and university/college personal pages from the era.
Our API allows academic researchers to programmatically access metadata and content from this collection. Over 2,000 academic papers have cited our archives for digital humanities research.
Many pages in this collection were donated by former webmasters who wanted to preserve their early digital footprint. We welcome more contributions from the community.
