Our Commitment to Accessibility

Aevum Encyclopedia is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure our platform is inclusive, usable, and compliant.

Conformance Status

Web content conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. While we continuously test and improve, a small number of pages or features may not yet be fully compliant. We document known limitations below and prioritize their resolution based on user feedback and severity.

How We Ensure Accessibility

Our accessibility process includes:

• Automated testing using industry-standard tools (axe, Lighthouse, WAVE) on every deployment
• Manual testing by accessibility specialists using screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS), keyboard-only navigation, and zoom/screen magnification
• User research and feedback sessions with individuals who have diverse disabilities
• Accessibility training for all engineering, design, and content teams
• Ongoing monitoring and periodic third-party audits

Known Limitations & Remediation

Despite our best efforts, some areas of our platform may have limitations. We actively track and address these issues:

• Legacy third-party content: Some embedded historical archives or partner content may not meet current WCAG standards. We are working with providers to remediate or provide accessible alternatives.
• PDF documents: Older reference materials in PDF format may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Accessible HTML versions are being prioritized.
• Interactive knowledge graphs: Complex data visualizations are being enhanced with keyboard navigation and alternative text descriptions.
