Adding a reference in the Aevum editor follows a streamlined workflow:

    Locate the Claim

    Position your cursor immediately after the sentence or paragraph that requires citation.

    Open the Reference Panel

    Click the 📎 Cite button in the editor toolbar or press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R.

    Fill Metadata

    Enter the source details into the structured fields. The system will auto-format and validate DOIs/URLs.

    Preview & Insert

    Review the generated citation. Click Insert to place the bracketed reference marker [1] inline.

    Submit for Review

    Save your draft. References are automatically flagged for editorial verification within 24 hours.

  • Prefer primary sources when available (original research, official documents, interviews).
  • Avoid over-citation: Only cite non-obvious claims, statistics, and contested statements.
  • Verify link longevity: Use archive.org or DOI links when possible to prevent link rot.
