Editor Requirements
We welcome contributors from all backgrounds. Here's what we look for:

- At least 5 hours per week available for editing and review activities

Being an Aevum Encyclopedia editor is a volunteer role — it's completely free to apply and join. While editorial contributions are not paid, valued editors gain recognition, exclusive badges, early access to features, and opportunities for featured editorial positions with potential stipends for major projects.
How long does the application review process take?

We aim to review all applications within 5–7 business days. During peak periods, this may extend to 10 business days. You'll receive an email notification with the outcome. If approved, you'll receive an invite link to activate your editor account.
Do I need a PhD or academic credentials to apply?

Not at all. While academic credentials help, we value demonstrated expertise and quality writing regardless of formal qualifications. Self-taught experts, professional practitioners, and passionate researchers are all welcome. What matters most is your ability to produce accurate, well-sourced content.
What happens if my application is declined?

We provide personalized feedback with every decision. If your application is declined, you can use the feedback to strengthen your profile and reapply after 30 days. Many of our best editors were initially declined but returned with stronger applications.
Can I edit in multiple languages or disciplines?

Absolutely! We encourage interdisciplinary and multilingual contributions. If you're proficient in multiple languages or have expertise across several fields, you'll be assigned to the most relevant content areas in each. Your versatility is a great asset to our community.
What training or onboarding do editors receive?

New editors receive access to our comprehensive onboarding program, including an editorial handbook, writing style guides, a 30-day mentorship with a senior editor, and interactive workshops on fact-checking, citation standards, and using our editing tools. You'll also join a dedicated editor community channel.
