• Document review: Official records, data sets, and primary documents are scrutinized for context and authenticity.
• Expert consultation: Subject-matter specialists review technical, scientific, and legal content before publication.
• Visual verification: Photos, videos, and graphics are metadata-checked and geolocated to prevent manipulation or misattribution.
• Pre-publication fact-check: A dedicated editorial team reviews all long-form and investigative pieces using standardized checklists.

When information is unverified, speculative, or based on anonymous sources, we explicitly label it as such and explain the editorial rationale.

Fairness & Impartiality

Journalistic fairness does not mean false balance. It means rigorous, context-driven reporting that avoids ideological slant while acknowledging complexity.

• Controversial topics are presented with proportional representation of credible viewpoints.
• Pseudoscience or demonstrably false claims are not given equivalent platform to established evidence.
• Language is carefully vetted to avoid loaded terminology, euphemisms, or framing that predisposes readers to a conclusion.
• Opinion, analysis, and satire are clearly separated from straight news reporting.

Independence & Transparency

Aevum News maintains strict separation between editorial and commercial operations. Our journalists:

• Never accept gifts, travel, or hospitality from subjects, sources, or advertisers.
• Disclose any personal, financial, or familial relationships that could impact coverage.
• Do not engage in political campaigning, activism, or public commentary that could compromise perceived neutrality.
• Refuse off-the-record interviews unless the public interest overwhelmingly justifies anonymity.

We publish an annual transparency report detailing ownership structure, funding sources, and editorial policies.

Sourcing & Attribution

Strong sourcing is non-negotiable. Our guidelines dictate:

• On-the-record preference: We prioritize identified sources. Anonymity is granted only when necessary for safety or when critical information cannot otherwise be obtained.
• Contextual attribution: We explain why a source is positioned to speak authoritatively on a subject.
• Quote integrity: Quotes are reproduced exactly. Ellipses or brackets indicate editorial adjustments, never substantive changes.
• Data transparency: Studies, statistics, and datasets are linked or cited with methodology notes.

Corrections Policy

We strive for perfection but acknowledge that errors occur. Our corrections protocol is designed to maintain trust through radical transparency:

• Significant errors are corrected within 24 hours of discovery, with a visible correction notice at the top and bottom of the article.

• Disclosure: Any AI-assisted editing, image enhancement, or data processing is disclosed in the methodology section.
• Deepfake & manipulation safeguards: We deploy verification tools to detect synthetic media and refuse to publish unverified digital content.
• Algorithmic transparency: Our recommendation engines prioritize editorial value and public interest over engagement metrics or sensationalism.

Code of Conduct for Journalists

Every member of the Aevum News editorial team agrees to abide by the following professional standards:

1. Maintain the highest standards of personal integrity and professional competence.
2. Never use insider information, access, or editorial platforms for personal gain.
3. Respect privacy rights, especially regarding minors, victims, and grieving families.
