Acceptable Use Policy
Last Updated: April 5, 2025CloudNexus provides cloud hosting, infrastructure, and related services to customers worldwide. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the standards of conduct, permitted activities, and prohibited uses associated with CloudNexus services. By accessing, subscribing to, or using any CloudNexus service, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Permitted Uses
Customers may use CloudNexus services for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to:
- Web Hosting & Applications: Hosting websites, web applications, APIs, and microservices.
- Database Management: Running relational and NoSQL databases for production or development workloads.
- Development & Testing: Staging environments, CI/CD pipelines, and software testing.
- Content Delivery: Using CloudNexus CDN and object storage for legitimate media distribution.
- Backup & Archival: Secure storage and recovery of encrypted or non-sensitive data.
2. Prohibited Uses
The following activities are strictly prohibited on CloudNexus infrastructure. Violations may result in suspension or termination of services without prior notice:
- Malware & Exploits: Distributing, hosting, or facilitating the use of viruses, ransomware, trojans, cryptominers, or exploit kits.
- Unauthorized Access: Attempting to breach, scan, or exploit CloudNexus systems, third-party services, or other customer accounts.
- Spam & Unsolicited Communications: Sending bulk unsolicited emails, SMS, or push notifications without explicit recipient consent.
- Illegal Content: Hosting or distributing content that violates applicable laws, including copyright infringement, child exploitation material, or hate speech.
- Denial of Service: Launching or participating in DDoS, DoS, or any attack intended to degrade network or service availability.
- Resource Abuse: Excessive resource consumption that impacts other tenants, including port scanning, brute-forcing, or high-frequency outbound traffic.
3. Network & Security Standards
Customers are responsible for maintaining the security of their deployments. CloudNexus requires:
- Implementation of standard security practices (firewalls, strong authentication, regular patching).
- Immediate reporting of compromised accounts or suspected breaches to abuse@cloudnexus.io.
- Compliance with all applicable data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA where applicable).
- Prohibition of clear-text protocols (HTTP, FTP, Telnet) for sensitive data transmission.
4. Enforcement & Remediation
CloudNexus reserves the right to investigate potential AUP violations through traffic analysis, server logs, and customer reports. Enforcement actions may include:
- Notice: Notification of suspected violation with requested remediation steps.
- Temporary Suspension: Service restriction pending investigation or compliance.
- Termination: Immediate closure of accounts for severe or repeated violations, with forfeiture of prepaid credits.
- Legal Cooperation: Provision of logs and data to law enforcement when legally compelled.
CloudNexus will make reasonable efforts to notify customers before terminating services for non-emergency violations.
5. Customer Responsibilities
By using CloudNexus services, you acknowledge and agree to:
- Monitor your accounts and instances for unauthorized activity.
- Secure all access credentials (API keys, SSH keys, root passwords).
- Ensure all hosted content and traffic complies with this AUP and applicable laws.
- Accept that CloudNexus is not responsible for data loss resulting from customer negligence or AUP violations.
6. Policy Updates
CloudNexus may update this Acceptable Use Policy to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or business practices. Material changes will be communicated via email or dashboard notification. Continued use of services after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
