1. Introduction & Scope
ConnectHub ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and safety of all users, including children. This Children's Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information from users under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). This policy supplements our main Privacy Policy and applies specifically to minors.
Important: ConnectHub is not designed for, nor do we knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will take prompt steps to delete it.
2. COPPA Compliance & Age Eligibility
We strictly comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent international regulations. To use ConnectHub, users must be at least 13 years old. During account registration, we implement age verification mechanisms to ensure compliance. Features, content recommendations, and data collection practices are automatically restricted for users who verify their age as under 18.
3. Information We Collect
For verified users under 18, we collect and process only the minimum information necessary to provide core platform functionality. This may include:
- Account information (username, pseudonym, verified age)
- Device and connection data (IP address, browser type, approximate location for safety features)
- Content interactions (likes, follows, comments within supervised environments)
- Parental consent records and communication logs
We do not collect precise geolocation, payment information, or persistent tracking cookies for users under 18 without explicit parental authorization.
4. How We Use Information
Information collected from younger users is used solely to:
- Provide and maintain secure access to ConnectHub
- Enforce age-appropriate content filtering and community guidelines
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding account safety and settings
- Comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse or exploitation
- Generate aggregated, anonymized insights for platform safety improvements
We never sell, rent, or trade personal information of users under 18 to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
5. Parental Rights & Controls
We empower parents and legal guardians with transparent controls and oversight tools:
- Supervised Accounts: Link a minor's account to a parent's verified profile for monitoring and approval workflows
- Privacy Defaults: All under-18 accounts default to private profiles, restricted DMs, and disabled public sharing
- Consent Management: View, modify, or withdraw consent for data processing at any time through the Family Dashboard
- Data Deletion: Request immediate deletion of a minor's account and associated data
- Activity Reports: Receive optional weekly summaries of interactions, follows, and content engagement
6. Data Security & Retention
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect minors' data, including end-to-end encryption for direct messages, regular security audits, and strict access controls. Data for users under 18 is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain safety compliance, or fulfill legal obligations. Upon account deletion or parental request, all personal data is permanently removed from our active systems within 30 days.
7. Third-Party Services & Advertising
ConnectHub does not serve behavioral advertising to users under 18. Contextual, non-tracking ads may appear based solely on current content interaction, not historical data or profiling. Third-party integrations (e.g., content moderation AI, analytics) are carefully vetted for COPPA compliance and bound by strict data processing agreements. We do not allow third parties to collect personal information from minors through our platform.
8. Policy Updates
We may update this Children's Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or applicable laws. Significant changes will be communicated directly to parents/guardians via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes were made.
