We provide a complete, machine-readable snapshot of your account data. When you request an export, you'll receive a secure archive containing:

ℹ️ Note on Privacy
For safety and compliance, other users' private messages and shared group data are only included if they explicitly reference your account. All exports are password-protected and auto-delete after 14 days.2.0
🚀 How to Request Your Data
Exporting your data is quick and doesn't affect your active account. Follow these steps:
- Navigate to Settings
Log in to your FamilyNest account and go toAccount > Privacy & Security. - Select Data Portability
Click the "Download Your Data" button. You'll see a preview of included categories. - Choose Format & Date Range
Select JSON (best for apps) or CSV/ZIP (best for spreadsheets). Filter by date if needed. - Verify & Submit
We'll send a confirmation email to your registered address. Click the secure link to authorize the export. - Download Securely
Within 48 hours, you'll receive a download link. The file is encrypted and expires automatically after 14 days.
🔄 Importing & Transferring Data
While FamilyNest focuses on export rights, we support data portability standards to help you move to other platforms:
- Standard Formats: All exports follow GDPR/CCPA-compliant JSON structures with clear schema documentation.
- Third-Party Import: Many pediatric apps and family planners support our export format. Check your target app's "Import Data" section.
- Account Deletion: If you choose to close your account, we'll permanently erase your data from active servers within 30 days, per our retention policy.

All data requests are authenticated via 2FA (if enabled) and verified email confirmation. We never sell, share, or monetize your family data.

How long does the export process take?
Most exports are ready within 24 hours. Complex accounts with extensive community history or large media libraries may take up to 48 hours. You'll be notified via email when your file is ready.
Can I export data for a child who no longer uses the platform?
Yes. As long as you're the registered account holder or legal guardian, you can export historical data for any family profile linked to your account, even if they've graduated or the account is inactive.
What happens if I lose my download link?
You can request a new export at any time. We don't store generated export files on our servers after expiration for security reasons, but a fresh request will generate a new secure link.
Do you comply with international data laws?
Absolutely. We comply with GDPR (EU), CCPA/CPRA (California), PIPEDA (Canada), and other global privacy frameworks. Our data portability features are built to exceed regulatory requirements.
