This policy should be read alongside our main Privacy Policy, which applies to all users. Where this Children's Privacy Policy provides additional protections or specific rules for users under 13, it takes precedence.

1. Our Commitment to Child Safety

FamilyNest is designed primarily for parents, caregivers, and families. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Our platform includes built-in safeguards, content filters, and age-appropriate design principles to ensure a safe digital environment.

2. Information We May Collect

When a parent or guardian consents to a child's participation, we may collect limited information necessary to deliver age-appropriate content and educational activities. This may include:

• Account Information: A parent-created profile, child's first name or nickname, age, and grade level (provided by the parent).
• Activity Data: Records of completed activities, educational progress, and preference settings for personalized content.
• Device & Usage Data: Non-personalized information such as device type, browser, and anonymized interaction patterns to improve accessibility and safety.
• Optional Media: Photos, drawings, or audio uploads created during activities, stored securely and accessible only to the parent/guardian.

We do not collect sensitive data such as full names, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, or precise geolocation directly from children.

3. How We Use Children's Information

Any information collected is used strictly for:

• Providing age-appropriate educational content, activities, and developmental tracking
• Enabling parental controls and dashboard visibility
• Improving platform safety, accessibility, and user experience
• Complying with legal obligations and child protection standards

We never sell, rent, or trade children's personal information. We do not permit behavioral advertising or targeted marketing to children under any circumstances.

4. Parental Rights & Consent

Under COPPA and international child privacy laws, parents and guardians have the following rights:

1. Review & Delete: Access, review, and request deletion of any personal information collected from your child.
2. Consent Management: Provide, withdraw, or modify consent for data collection at any time.
3. Opt-Out: Restrict your child's participation in features that require data collection.
4. Account Deactivation: Permanently close a child's profile and erase associated data upon request.

To exercise these rights, parents must verify their identity and relationship to the child through our secure parent portal or by contacting our support team.

5. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-leading security measures to protect children's data, including:

• End-to-end encryption for data in transit and at rest
• Strict access controls and regular security audits
• Automatic data anonymization for analytics
• Secure, isolated storage for child-related profiles

Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide requested services or comply with legal requirements. Upon account deletion or consent withdrawal, all child-related data is permanently erased within 30 days.

6. Third-Party Services & Links

FamilyNest does not integrate third-party trackers, analytics, or advertising networks that target or collect data from children. Any linked educational resources or partner activities are carefully vetted for child safety and compliance. Parents are encouraged to review third-party privacy practices independently.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Children's Privacy Policy to reflect legal changes, product improvements, or safety enhancements. Material changes will be communicated directly to parents via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before implementation.
