9. Termination Policy

9.1 Your Right to Terminate

You may terminate your FamilyNest account or cancel your subscription at any time. You can initiate this process through your Account Settings, by contacting our Customer Support team, or by sending a written request to our designated support email.

For paid subscriptions, cancellations will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. No prorated refunds will be issued for partially used billing periods unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws.

9.2 FamilyNest’s Right to Terminate

FamilyNest reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account, access to our services, or any associated features if:

  • You violate our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or Acceptable Use Policy.
  • We reasonably believe your activity poses a risk to the safety, privacy, or well-being of other users, particularly minors.
  • Your account remains inactive for a continuous period of 24 months.
  • We are required to do so by applicable law, regulation, or court order.
  • Payment for a paid subscription fails or is fraudulent.

⚠️ FamilyNest prioritizes a safe, supportive environment for families. Any behavior that compromises child safety, shares harmful misinformation, or creates a hostile community experience will be addressed promptly and may result in immediate termination.

9.3 Termination Process & Notice

Except in cases of urgent safety concerns or severe policy violations, FamilyNest will provide at least 14 days’ written notice prior to terminating or suspending your account. This notice will be sent to the email address associated with your account and will include:

  • The reason for the proposed termination or suspension.
  • Specific sections of our policies that were violated (if applicable).
  • Steps you may take to remedy the issue or request a review.
  • The effective date of termination or suspension.

During the notice period, you may submit an appeal or corrective action. If the issue is resolved satisfactorily, termination may be rescinded.

9.4 Effects of Termination

Upon termination or cancellation of your account:

  • Your access to all FamilyNest services, including premium features, will cease immediately or at the end of the notice/billing period, as applicable.
  • Active subscriptions will be canceled, and no further charges will be applied.
  • Any ongoing workshops, consultations, or scheduled expert sessions will be canceled. Refunds for unused, prepaid services will be processed according to our Refund Policy.
  • You are responsible for downloading or exporting any personal data, family logs, or saved content prior to termination.

9.5 Data Retention & Privacy

FamilyNest is committed to protecting your family’s data. Following account termination:

  • Account credentials, session tokens, and payment information will be securely deleted or anonymized within 30 days.
  • Personal family data, milestone logs, and messages will be retained in a secure, inaccessible state for up to 12 months to accommodate potential reactivation requests or legal holds.
  • After the retention period, all personal data will be permanently deleted in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and applicable privacy laws.
  • We may retain anonymized, aggregated analytics data for service improvement and research purposes.

9.6 Reactivation & Dispute Resolution

Within 12 months of termination, you may request account reactivation by contacting support. If approved, previously retained data will be restored, and you will be required to reaccept the current Terms of Service.

If you believe your account was terminated in error or wish to dispute a termination decision, you may submit a formal review request within 30 days of receiving notice. Our Trust & Safety team will conduct a thorough, impartial review and respond within 10 business days.
