At GeoServer, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform, APIs, and related services.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Data: Name, email, company, and authentication credentials when you register.
- Usage Data: API requests, map tile renders, layer queries, and performance metrics.
- Geospatial Data: Spatial datasets, feature collections, and metadata you upload or sync through our infrastructure.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and logs for security and optimization.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data to operate and improve our geospatial platform, authenticate access, deliver API responses, ensure system security, comply with legal obligations, and provide customer support.
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted service providers (cloud hosting, analytics, billing) under strict data processing agreements. Geospatial datasets you upload remain your property unless explicitly shared via public endpoints.
4. Data Security & Retention
We employ industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest), role-based access controls, and regular security audits. Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide services or comply with legal requirements.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Submit requests to our legal contact below.

1. Account & Authentication
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials. You may not share API keys, tokens, or team access links with unauthorized parties.
2. Permitted Use
GeoServer’s infrastructure may be used for lawful geospatial data management, rendering, analysis, and application integration. Prohibited activities include:
- Reselling or redistributing raw tile layers or WMS/WFS endpoints without authorization.
- Using the platform for illegal activities, harassment, or malware distribution.
- Excessive automated scraping or denial-of-service behavior.
3. Intellectual Property
GeoServer retains all rights to its software, APIs, documentation, and branding. You retain ownership of your uploaded spatial data and custom styles. By using our tools, you grant us a limited license to process and cache your data solely for service delivery.
4. Service Levels & Availability
We strive for 99.9% uptime on paid tiers but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance. Enterprise SLAs are governed by separate contracts.

- Spatial coordinates, projections, or topological operations will be error-free in all edge cases.
- Third-party base maps or external data sources meet specific regulatory standards.
- Services will be uninterrupted, timely, or secure against all cyber threats.
GeoServer shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of our platform, including but not limited to data loss, business interruption, or decision-making based on rendered maps. Liability is capped at the amount paid in the preceding 12 months.
