This report details our performance across three core pillars: Environmental Stewardship, Social Equity, and Economic Transparency. Over the past fiscal year, we have achieved a 12% reduction in water usage per ton of cacao and maintained a 100% Fair Trade compliance rate across all 50,000 trees on our estate.

Key Achievement: Carbon Neutral Certification

Environmental Stewardship

Our cacao groves sit on 200 acres of Ecuadorian volcanic soil. Protecting this fragile ecosystem is paramount to our existence. We utilize agroforestry techniques to maintain biodiversity while cultivating fine-flavor cacao.

Reforestation & Biodiversity

Through our "Five-For-One" initiative, for every cacao tree harvested at end-of-life, we plant five native canopy trees to restore the forest structure.

Water Management

We have installed solar-powered drip irrigation systems that reduce water waste by 40% compared to traditional flooding methods. Additionally, our processing facility recycles 85% of wastewater used in the fermentation tank cleaning process.

Social & Community Impact

Chocolate is a labor of love. We ensure that the love is reciprocated through fair wages, safe working conditions, and community investment.

Fair Trade & Labor Practices

While Fair Trade certification sets a baseline, Terroir Cocoa strives to exceed these standards. Our average daily wage for farmhands is 22% above the Fair Trade minimum premium.

The Education Fund

This year, our employee benefit fund sponsored 14 children of farmworkers to attend secondary school, providing full tuition, uniforms, and supplies.

Health & Safety

We conduct monthly safety drills and maintain an on-site clinic staffed by a rotating nurse. There were zero recordable lost-time injuries in 2024.

Economic Transparency

2025 Sustainability Targets

Building on our progress, we have set the following ambitious goals for the upcoming fiscal year:

  • 100% Renewable Energy: Expand solar arrays to cover 100% of farm energy needs, eliminating grid dependency.
  • Zero Plastic Packaging: Transition all retail wrappers to compostable cellulose-based materials.
  • Community Health Clinic: Break ground on a permanent medical facility serving 400+ local residents.
