1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to ChessMaster Forum ("Platform", "Service", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our website, mobile applications, forums, matchmaking systems, tournament infrastructure, or any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you may not use the Service.
Please read these Terms carefully before creating an account or participating in any activities on our Platform.
2. Eligibility & Account Registration
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users between 13 and 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.
- One (1) account per person is permitted. Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of bypassing restrictions, manipulating ratings, or gaining unfair advantages is strictly prohibited.
- You agree to provide accurate and current information during registration and update it promptly if changes occur.
3. Fair Play & Prohibited Conduct
To preserve the integrity of chess and our community, the following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Cheating & Engine Assistance: Using external chess engines, analysis bots, artificial intelligence, memorized opening databases beyond reasonable limits, or any third-party assistance during rated games or tournaments.
- Collusion & Game Manipulation: Trading pieces, drawing games intentionally, sharing scores with other players, or engaging in any form of match-fixing.
- Harassment & Abuse: Discrimination, hate speech, threats, spam, unsolicited advertising, or persistent unwanted contact in private messages, forums, or tournament lobbies.
- Account Sharing & Selling: Renting, selling, gifting, or transferring accounts is prohibited. Our anti-forgery systems monitor for suspicious login patterns.
Violations may result in rating forfeiture, temporary suspension, or permanent ban at ChessMaster's sole discretion.
4. Forum & Community Guidelines
The ChessMaster Forum is designed for strategic discussion, opening theory, endgame studies, tournament results, and chess culture.
- Users retain ownership of their original content but grant ChessMaster a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and moderate posted material.
- Off-topic content, low-effort spam, and repetitive posting will be removed by moderators.
- Report rule-breaking content using the in-platform reporting tool. Our moderation team reviews reports within 24-48 hours.
5. Tournaments & Competitions
ChessMaster regularly hosts timed events, league structures, and prize tournaments. By entering a tournament, you agree to:
- Comply with the specific event rules, which take precedence over general Terms where they conflict.
- Accept time controls, tie-break criteria, and score verification methods as stated in the tournament registration.
- Understand that prize distribution, eligibility, and tax responsibilities are determined by event organizers and local regulations. ChessMaster is not responsible for prize fulfillment beyond platform infrastructure.
- Refrain from using prohibited software during event rounds. Post-match analysis is permitted only after all connected players have submitted their results.
6. Intellectual Property
All platform branding, logos, software code, UI designs, course materials, and proprietary algorithms are owned by ChessMaster Forum and protected by copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, reverse-engineer, or distribute our proprietary materials without written consent.
User-generated content remains your property. You are solely responsible for ensuring your posts, images, and shared games do not infringe on third-party rights.
7. Privacy & Data Usage
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Briefly, we collect:
- Game history, ratings, and move data for matchmaking and leaderboard functionality
- IP addresses and device information for security and anti-cheat verification
- Forum activity and communication logs for moderation purposes
We do not sell personal data to third parties. Rating calculations and tournament pairings use proprietary algorithms that are not publicly disclosed.
8. Service Availability & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation. Server maintenance, network outages, or third-party hosting disruptions may occur.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChessMaster Forum shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from account suspension, rating adjustments, or tournament cancellations
- Disputes between users, including cheating allegations or financial losses outside our platform
- Rating accuracy, which reflects competitive performance and is not a professional certification
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid ChessMaster in the past twelve (12) months, or $100 USD, whichever is less.
9. Account Termination & Suspension
You may close your account at any time via Account Settings. ChessMaster reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or pose security risks. Suspended accounts will not receive refunds for unused subscription time unless required by applicable consumer protection laws.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration under AAA rules, except that small claims may be heard in local courts. You waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits or consolidated proceedings.
11. Modifications to Terms
ChessMaster may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be notified via email and platform announcements at least 30 days before生效. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. We encourage you to review this page regularly.
