Service Limitations & Usage Policy
Last Updated: May 22, 2025 | Effective Date: June 1, 2025
1. Overview
This page outlines the technical limitations, usage restrictions, and policy constraints applicable to all CloudNexus services. By using our infrastructure, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these limitations.
2. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on CloudNexus infrastructure:
- Unauthorized Cryptocurrency Mining: Crypto mining is only permitted on dedicated instances explicitly configured for this purpose. Mining on shared or general-purpose resources is prohibited.
- Spam & Unsolicited Communications: Sending bulk emails, SMS, or messages without explicit recipient consent.
- Malware & Exploits: Hosting, distributing, or generating malicious software, exploits, or botnets.
- DDoS Attacks: Initiating or participating in any form of distributed denial-of-service attack against CloudNexus or third-party systems.
- Illegal Content: Hosting content that violates applicable laws, including but not limited to child exploitation material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or content promoting violence.
- Reverse Engineering: Attempting to decompile, reverse engineer, or extract proprietary code from CloudNexus software or services.
3. Technical & Resource Limits
CloudNexus enforces technical limits to ensure fair usage and system stability. These limits vary by plan and instance type.
🔥 CPU Throttling
Instances exceeding sustained usage above 90% for 30 consecutive minutes may be subject to throttling or migration.
🌐 Bandwidth Caps
Standard plans include capped bandwidth. Excess usage beyond plan limits is billed at $0.08/GB or throttled to 100 Mbps.
📁 File System Limits
Maximum single file size: 10 TB. Maximum directory entry count: 10,000,000 entries per directory.
🔌 Open Connections
Shared plans are limited to 5,000 concurrent connections. Dedicated plans support up to 100,000 concurrent connections.
For complete technical specifications per instance type, please refer to our Documentation: Instance Sizing Guide.
4. API & Rate Limits
CloudNexus API access is subject to rate limiting to protect system integrity.
| Endpoint Category | Rate Limit | Burst Limit | Window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compute Management | 100 requests | 20 requests | Per minute |
| Storage Operations | 500 requests | 100 requests | Per minute |
| Authentication | 10 requests | 5 requests | Per minute |
| Billing & Invoices | 30 requests | 10 requests | Per minute |
Exceeding rate limits will result in 429 Too Many Requests responses. Persistent abuse may trigger IP-based blocking.
5. Storage Constraints
CloudNexus storage services have the following constraints:
- Object Storage (S3-compatible): Maximum object size is 5 TB per upload. Multi-part upload is required for objects larger than 5 GB.
- Block Storage: Snapshots are incremental. Retention policies must be configured; snapshots older than 365 days may be subject to archival fees.
- Database Storage: Managed databases enforce a maximum storage limit based on tier. Automatic scaling to cold storage is not available; manual migration is required.
- Blocksize: Minimum object blocksize is 5 MB for optimal performance. Smaller blocks may incur additional request charges.
6. SLA Exclusions
Our Service Level Agreement guarantees 99.99% uptime for covered services. The following scenarios are excluded from SLA credits:
- Scheduled maintenance windows announced at least 72 hours in advance.
- Outages caused by customer misconfiguration, misuse, or violation of Acceptable Use Policy.
- Events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, or government actions.
- Beta, Alpha, or preview features explicitly marked as non-production.
- Performance degradation not resulting in complete service unavailability.
7. Liability Caps
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CloudNexus's total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to these services shall not exceed:
- The total amount paid by you to CloudNexus for the services giving rise to the claim during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim.
- In no event shall CloudNexus be liable for any lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or other commercial damages, regardless of the form of action.
- Customers are solely responsible for maintaining backups of their data. CloudNexus does not guarantee data recovery in the event of accidental deletion or corruption.
8. Policy Changes
CloudNexus reserves the right to modify these limitations at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email and dashboard notification at least 30 days before the effective date. Continued use of services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated limitations.
For non-material updates (e.g., typo corrections, formatting), changes may take effect immediately upon posting.
