Yes. All snapshots are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. You can choose between our managed encryption keys or bring your own keys through our integrations with AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, or HashiCorp Vault. Encryption keys are rotated automatically every 90 days.
Yes, with Professional and Enterprise plans. File-level restore allows you to browse the snapshot's file system and restore individual files or directories without restoring the entire volume. This is available through both our web console and API.
Snapshots are independent copies of your data at the time they were taken. Deleting the source volume does not affect existing snapshots. You can still restore from them or use them to create new volumes. Snapshots follow their own retention policy regardless of the source.
Restore times depend on the snapshot size. Small volumes (under 100 GB) typically restore in under 30 seconds. Larger volumes use our instant boot technology — the new instance starts immediately and data streams in the background. Full consistency is achieved within minutes for most workloads.
Yes, Enterprise plans support Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) immutable backups. Once a snapshot is created, it cannot be modified or deleted until its retention period expires. This protects against ransomware attacks and accidental or malicious deletion of your backups.
