What are your standard lead times?

Standard lead times range from 5-10 business days for CNC machining and sheet metal, and 10-15 business days for injection molding tooling and production. Rush orders (24-48hr) are available for an additional fee. Exact timelines depend on complexity, material availability, and volume.

Do you offer tiered pricing for volume orders?

Yes. We provide tiered pricing based on quantity breaks (e.g., 1-50, 51-500, 501-2000, 2000+). Higher volumes reduce per-unit costs due to optimized cycle times and bulk material purchasing. Request a quote with your projected annual volume for the best rate.

Can I modify an order after production has started?

Modifications are only accepted before CNC programming or tooling setup begins. Once production starts, changes may require rework fees, scrap costs, or lead time extensions. For urgent changes, contact your project manager immediately via email or phone.

📐 Technical & CAD Files

Which CAD file formats do you accept?

We accept STEP (.stp/.step), IGES (.igs), SolidWorks (.sldprt), and native Parasolid formats. PDF drawings are accepted for reference only. Please ensure all files include proper tolerances, surface finish requirements, and material callouts.

What tolerances can you hold?

Standard CNC machining holds ±0.005" (0.127mm). Precision capabilities reach ±0.001" (0.025mm) with specialized fixtures and environmental controls. Tighter tolerances may increase cycle time and cost. Consult our engineering team for GD&T-specific requirements.

Do you provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback?

Yes. Every quote includes a free DFM report highlighting potential issues such as thin walls, sharp internal corners, inaccessible drill angles, or overly tight tolerances. We suggest cost-saving optimizations without compromising function.

What quality certifications do you hold?

MetalCore is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 Rev D (Aerospace). We also maintain ITAR registration and IATF 16949 compliance for automotive clients. All certificates are available upon request.

Can I receive Certificates of Conformance (CoC) or Material Test Reports (MTR)?

Yes. CoCs are included with every production shipment at no extra cost. Material Test Reports (MTRs/CMTRs) for metals and plating finishes are available for an additional fee. Specify your documentation requirements during quoting.

How do you handle defective or non-conforming parts?

If a part fails inspection upon receipt, submit a photo and measurement report within 48 hours. Our quality team will initiate an NCR (Non-Conformance Report). We typically offer replacement, repair, or credit at no cost if the issue originated from our process.

🚚 Shipping & Logistics

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship to 40+ countries via DHL, FedEx, and ocean freight. All exports include proper packaging, export documentation, and Incoterms compliance. Duties and customs clearance are the buyer's responsibility unless DDP terms are agreed upon.

How are parts packaged to prevent damage?

Parts are individually wrapped in protective film, placed in foam-lined or custom-molded crates, and sealed in moisture-resistant containers. For precision optics or aerospace components, we offer climate-controlled packaging and desiccant packs upon request.

Common Troubleshooting Guides

⚠️ CAD File Rejected on Upload

Issue: File fails validation or appears corrupted

Your CAD model may contain broken references, missing surfaces, or unsupported parametric history.

  1. Export as STEP AP214 or AP242 format
  2. Verify all bodies are solid (no gaps or non-manifold edges)
  3. Remove hidden or suppressed features before export
  4. Re-upload or email engineering@metalcore-mfg.com

🔍 Dimensional Variance on Receipt

Issue: Part measures outside stated tolerance

Measurement errors often stem from incorrect gauge usage or thermal expansion during transit.

  1. Verify measurement equipment calibration (ASME B89)
  2. Measure at 68°F (20°C) room temperature
  3. Cross-check with our provided CoC/CMM report
  4. Submit NCR form within 48 hours if confirmed non-conforming

🚚 Tracking Shows Delayed Delivery

Issue: Shipment hasn't moved in 3+ days

Carrier delays often occur during peak seasons or customs holds.

  1. Check tracking on carrier's official site
  2. Verify customs documentation was submitted
  3. Contact logistics team with PO# and tracking#
  4. Request expedited replacement if >5 business days delayed

🎨 Surface Finish / Plating Defect

Issue: Pitting, uneven color, or peeling plating

Often caused by improper pre-treatment, contaminated bath, or handling scratches post-plating.

  1. Document defect with high-res photos under neutral lighting
  2. Do not clean or buff the part further
  3. Provide MIL-SPEC or ASTM standard used for finish
  4. Initiate return for rework or credit via support portal
