Pro Packing Tips from Our Guides

๐Ÿงผ Test Everything at Home

Never bring untested gear to the trail. Break in boots, test zippers, sleep in your bag, and check electronics before departure. We recommend a 2-week testing window.

๐ŸŽ’ Pack by Access Frequency

Items you'll need quickly (rain gear, snacks, map, first aid) should be in external pockets or the top of your pack. Heavy items go close to your back, centered between your shoulder blades.

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Layering > Bulking Up

Mountains change microclimates rapidly. A 3-layer system (base, insulating, shell) outperforms one heavy jacket. Merino wool regulates temperature better than cotton.

๐Ÿ“ฆ The 10 Essentials Rule

Navigation, headlamp, sun protection, first aid, knife, fire starters, shelter, extra food, extra water, extra clothes. These are non-negotiable for any SummitX expedition.
