📋 Overview & Scope

MetalCore Manufacturing enforces strict packaging standards to protect precision-engineered components during storage, transit, and handling. All shipments must comply with these specifications unless a custom packaging agreement is in place.

ℹ️
These guidelines apply to all standard product lines, custom machined parts, sheet metal assemblies, and injection-molded components. Aerospace and medical-grade parts follow additional ISTA-3A and FDA-compliant protocols.

Key Objectives

  • • Prevent moisture, corrosion, and physical damage during transit
  • • Ensure dimensional stability on standard pallet configurations
  • • Maintain full traceability and regulatory compliance
  • • Optimize logistics efficiency and reduce freight damage claims

🧱 Approved Packaging Materials

All materials must be new, clean, and free of contaminants. Secondary/recycled materials are permitted only when meeting the minimum strength ratings below.

d>Heavy assemblies (>200kg)
Material Type Specification Use Case Status
Corrugated Box (ECT-32+) Double-wall, B-flute, 12-pt min Standard CNC parts, fasteners Approved
Moisture Barrier Bags VCI-lined, 4-mil polyethylene Precision machined components Required
Wooden Crates / Skids ISPM-15 compliant, kiln-dried Approved
Stretch Wrap 20-mil linear low-density poly Pallet stabilization Approved
Desiccant Packs Silica gel or montmorillonite Maritime/shipping >14 days Recommended

📐 Palletization & Dimensional Guidelines

Proper palletization prevents freight damage and ensures compatibility with automated warehouse systems. All loads must be unitized and wrapped.

Parameter Standard Requirement Maximum Limit
Pallet Size 48" x 40" (GMA) or 40" x 48" (Euro) ± 0.5" tolerance
Load Height 60" from floor to top of package 64" (with approval)
Overhang None beyond pallet edges Max 1" if structurally supported
Stacking Weight 1,500 lbs per pallet 2,500 lbs (reinforced base)
⚠️
Loads exceeding 60" height or 2,000 lbs require a signed Load Stability Agreement (LSA-04) and engineering review.

🏷️ Labeling & Compliance Requirements

Accurate labeling ensures traceability, customs clearance, and proper handling. All external surfaces must display mandatory markings.

Mandatory Markings

  • • Ship-to / Bill-to address with contact name & phone
  • • PO#, SKU/Part Number, Quantity, Net/Gross Weight
  • • Barcode (Code 128 or GS1-128) scannable at 99% accuracy
  • • "FRAGILE", "KEEP DRY", or "HEAVY" handling stickers as applicable
  • • Country of Origin & Material Composition (for customs)

Documentation Enclosure

Each shipment must include a waterproof document pouch containing:

  • • Packing Slip (3 copies)
  • • Certificate of Conformance (CoC) / Material Certs (if requested)
  • • MSDS / SDS sheets for chemical-treated components
  • • Quality Inspection Report (for aerospace/medical orders)

♻️ Environmental & Sustainability Notes

MetalCore is committed to reducing packaging waste and carbon footprint. We prioritize recyclable, reusable, and FSC-certified materials wherever operationally feasible.

🌱
Eco-Policy: 85%+ of our outbound packaging is recyclable or reusable. Wood dunnage is ISPM-15 treated and plastic-free where possible. Corrugate is sourced from minimum 30% post-consumer waste.

Customers requesting fully plastic-free or zero-waste packaging configurations should contact our Supply Chain Engineering team for a custom feasibility assessment.
