3-Axis vs 5-Axis Machining

Choose the right machining strategy based on your part complexity, production volume, and budget requirements.

Cost-Effective

3-Axis CNC Machining

Ideal for standard parts with flat surfaces, holes, and basic contours. The tool moves along X, Y, and Z axes, making it highly efficient for high-volume production.

  • Lower setup & programming costs
  • Faster cycle times for simple geometries
  • Excellent for brackets, enclosures, and plates
  • Scalable to mass production runs
High Precision

5-Axis CNC Machining

Unlocks complex 3D geometries with single-setup machining. The tool approaches from multiple angles, reducing part handling and improving accuracy on contoured surfaces.

  • Single-setup reduces cumulative error
  • Complex undercuts & organic shapes
  • Ideal for turbine blades, medical implants, manifolds
  • Superior surface finish without fixturing marks

CNC Machining FAQ

What file formats do you accept for CNC quotes? +

We accept STEP, IGES, STL, and native CAD files (SolidWorks, NX, Inventor, Creo). PDF drawings with GD&T are also welcome for initial estimates.

What are your typical lead times? +

Prototypes: 3-5 business days. Low-volume runs (10-100 pcs): 7-10 days. High-volume production is scheduled based on material availability and queue status. Expedited options available.

Can you machine superalloys like Inconel or Titanium? +

Yes. Our 5-axis center is equipped with rigid toolholding, high-pressure cooling, and specialized carbide tooling specifically for difficult-to-machine materials.

Do you provide first-article inspection reports? +

Absolutely. Every job includes a comprehensive FAIR with dimensional callouts, CMM reports, and material certifications upon request.

What is your minimum order quantity? +

We support true one-off prototypes to million-piece production runs. There is no minimum order quantity; pricing scales based on complexity and volume.
