This policy outlines the standards for account creation, platform usage, and community engagement across all Terroir Cocoa digital properties. By accessing or using our services, you agree to abide by these terms.
1. Account Registration & Security
To access certain features of the Terroir Cocoa platform, including personalized tasting notes, order tracking, and community forums, you must create an account. All account holders are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their credentials.
- Accuracy: You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and update it promptly if changes occur.
- Single Account: Each individual may maintain only one personal account. Multiple accounts for circumventing restrictions or manipulating reviews are strictly prohibited.
- Security: You are responsible for all activities under your account. Enable two-factor authentication where available and immediately notify us of any unauthorized access.
- Minors: Accounts may only be created by individuals aged 18 or older. Minors aged 13–17 may participate in limited, supervised features only with explicit parental consent.
- Business Accounts: Wholesale and distributor accounts require verification of business registration and may be subject to additional terms.
Note: Sharing, selling, or transferring your account credentials to third parties is a direct violation of this policy and will result in immediate suspension.
2. Permitted Use & Prohibited Conduct
Our platform is designed to foster education, appreciation, and fair commerce in the artisanal chocolate space. Users must conduct themselves with professionalism and respect.
Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:
- Engaging in harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or threats against any user, employee, or partner.
- Posting false, misleading, or defamatory content about Terroir Cocoa, our farmers, or the cacao industry.
- Using automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or unauthorized APIs to access, collect, or manipulate platform data.
- Attempting to interfere with platform security, servers, or network infrastructure.
- Reselling limited-edition bars for commercial profit without authorization from our wholesale division.
- Impersonating Terroir Cocoa staff, certified chocolatiers, or other community members.
- Sharing copyrighted material, pirated content, or proprietary farming techniques without express written permission.
3. Content & Community Guidelines
When you post reviews, forum comments, tasting journal entries, or media to our platform, you grant Terroir Cocoa a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and moderate that content. We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove any material that violates these guidelines.
- Authenticity: Reviews and tasting notes must reflect genuine personal experiences. Incentivized or fabricated reviews will be removed and may trigger account review.
- Respectful Dialogue: Constructive criticism is welcome. Personal attacks, trolling, or repetitive spam will not be tolerated.
- Media Standards: Uploaded photos and videos must be original or properly licensed. Watermarks or credit to third-party creators must be retained.
- Commercial Posts: Promotional content, affiliate links, or third-party vendor advertisements require prior approval from our community team.
4. Enforcement & Account Termination
Terroir Cocoa reserves the right to enforce this policy at our sole discretion. Violations will be addressed proportionally to the severity and frequency of the offense.
- Warning: Minor or first-time violations may result in a formal notice and content removal.
- Temporary Suspension: Repeated or moderate violations may lead to account suspension for 7–30 days.
- Permanent Termination: Severe, fraudulent, or malicious conduct will result in permanent account closure, forfeiture of unredeemed credits, and removal of all associated content.
Refunds for suspended or terminated accounts will be processed only in accordance with our Return & Refund Policy. Termination decisions regarding fraudulent activity or severe policy breaches are final.
5. Privacy & Data Handling
Account data, activity logs, and community content are managed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell personal information to third parties. Data collected through account registration is used solely for service delivery, security verification, order fulfillment, and community moderation. You may request data export or account deletion through your dashboard settings at any time.
6. Updates to This Policy
We periodically review and update this policy to reflect platform improvements, legal requirements, and community feedback. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent in-platform notice at least 30 days prior to taking effect.
