It was 2013, deep in the Patagonian wilderness. Two friends, shivering in a leaking tent above the treeline, made a promise: if they survived this ascent, they'd make sure everyone else could experience the magic of the mountains too.
SummitX Adventures was founded not in a boardroom, but on a trailhead. Our first "office" was a beat-up van, our first gear was second-hand, and our first trip had exactly three participants. But that spark—of community, discovery, and respect for nature—burned brighter than any stove.
Today, that spark has grown into a global fire, illuminating paths for thousands of adventurers across 50+ countries. But we haven't forgotten where we started. We're still just two friends, a bunch of incredible guides, and an unshakeable love for the wild.
Milestones that shaped the SummitX story.
SummitX founded by Alex Mercer and Elena Rossi in Patagonia. First group of 3 trekkers completed the W Circuit.
Expanded beyond South America. Launched our first Asian expeditions to Nepal and launched the SummitX Guide Academy.
Celebrated 5,000 happy explorers. Introduced our Eco-Impact program, pledging 1% of revenue to conservation.
Launched the SummitX Safety Protocol 3.0 and GPS tracking system, setting new industry standards for expedition safety.
Reached 200 unique trips across 52 countries. Community grew to over 15,000 active members worldwide.
