Overview

Greenland is a land of stark contrasts and profound silence. Over 80% of the island is covered by an ice sheet that holds enough frozen water to raise global sea levels by 7 meters. Yet, beyond the ice lie dramatic fjords, vibrant coastal towns, whale-rich waters, and a living Inuit culture that has thrived here for millennia.

SummitX designs immersive, low-impact expeditions that prioritize safety, cultural respect, and authentic encounters. Whether you're kayaking past icebergs, hiking to a former Norse settlement, or sleeping under the Aurora Borealis, every journey is crafted to leave you changed.

Practical Information

Layering is essential. Bring moisture-wicking base layers, insulated mid-layers, a waterproof/windproof shell, polarized sunglasses, glacier goggles, sturdy waterproof boots, gloves, and a warm hat. We provide technical gear like crampons, ice axes, and drysuits for specific trips.

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark but not the EU/Schengen zone. Citizens of the US, Canada, UK, and most EU countries need a Schengen visa for short stays, but Greenland has a separate visa policy. Check current requirements with our team before booking.

We keep groups intentionally small (6-12 participants) to minimize environmental impact, ensure personalized guidance, and maintain safety in remote terrain. Each trip includes at least two certified mountain/arctic guides.

Domestic flights, all accommodations (hotels, eco-lodges, or expedition camping), meals per itinerary, expert guides, permits, park fees, emergency evacuation insurance, and technical rental gear. International flights, travel insurance, alcohol, and personal expenses are not included.
